Thinking on it, it seems unlikely that bama/a&m will look significantly more impressive against lsu's d than Uga/OM did (we made both look like world beaters). As such, it seems reasonable to conclude that if mettenburger can get his crap together we stand a fighting chance in both games. Had we have not thrown interceptions against OM we probably would have won.

Suddenly I don't feel so bad.

Hell 2 of those picks were thrown in the endzone. Muffed punt vs. Georgia and hell just score a TD on one of those Ole Miss picks and LSU is undefeated right now.

I think there's something to this. In terms of the LSU defense, what else can be exploited that already hasn't? If the offense is on its 'A' game for both Bama and A&M, it stands to reason we can win shootouts. Yes, I know Bama's D is better than A&M's, but as to opposing offensive units, they haven't played anyone formidable other than A&M.

And gave up 700 yards of offense to them.

Hell, they gave up something like 450 yards to us last year, offensive juggernaut that we were.

Ole miss actually dominated us yet somehow tried to Let us win. That game was not really one we should count as an almost win. It was a loss from beginning to end. Against a practice squad.

It's such an odd season in the SEC I'm not sure a lot can be drawn from comparing common opponents this season. If there were the only game that can be pointed to is the Ole Miss game.

Quite frankly, I don't see a lot that can be taken from that game if we were to try and draw a conclusion on what'll happen in two weeks.

So you're leaning towards the defense that held A&M to only 21 points in the first 3 quarters (when it counted, as they amassed a huge 42-21 lead) vs the one who has allowed only 5.1 points and 231.3 yards per game otherwise to show up against us?

I think we will move the ball at will part of the time and then the other half of the time will get bogged down.

I got us scoring 17 with 375 yards of offense.

So, you see Bama holding our 2013 offense below what they held our 2012 offense?

    I don't see it.

Depends ... if the offense that showed up against OM or FL shows up, I"ll be suprised if we score 17.

If the offense that showed up against GA shows up, taking what the D will give us, and not forcing what is not there ... then I can see LSU racking up some points.

Mett needs to realize that neither he, nor ODB or JL nor Hll, or anyone else on LSU are going to win the Heisman, therefore, no need to try for any Heisman moments. Just managed the game and exploit what is open. Consistently moving the ball against whatever they throw at us is the way to kill the Bama Defense's confidence. Once you do that, they will over play and make mistakes, opening up the door to greater opportunity.

I think it is a given that Bama is going to rack up 40+ points on our D ... so the key to LSU winning is for Mett and the offense to return to the UGA form, and outscore the gumps. ... oh .. ODB can't funble any punts.

Surely you don't equate the Georgia defense to that of Alabama's?

I do agree we can score at least 31 on this team if we can hit on some big plays. Can we get to 41 or better? I don't see that.

And it all has to do with the Mettenberger I have seen in the last 3 games. It's a disturbing trend and the main reason I have us only scoring 17 points. That and the fact that this is a Bama defense that may be only a notch below last year's defense.

    Ole Miss scored nada.
