Another question: how many points do the grumps put on the scoreboard against this d? Agree with terry here that the grumps will continually test the middle of our d
Have to agree. We have the advantage at skill positions on both sides of the ball, I think, but Nick's going to make this one all about what happens between the tackles. That means protecting Etling on offense and putting Bama off schedule on defense. Two big tasks right there.
If LSU can win TOs (and not give one up for points), effectively throw the ball, get bama in 3rd and 5 or 6, they have a decent shot. I always like the big home game at night atmosphere, pretty magical and can't be overlooked. LSU teams historically (the good teams and bad ones) live up to the night time tiger stadium legends. I think Vegas understands this.
My biggest concern with this game is will our offensive line be able to get a push against Bamas D Line? Can we give Etling enough time to find receivers down field?
They should test the middle, LSU is soft at defensive tackle, and if they can block Beckwith they will have a field day. But KB is a tackling machine, he doesn't miss many 1 on 1's. They should also try and get OJ Howard involved. What is this like his 15th year at tight end? What's really interesting to me is that LSU's 2nd string defensive line is better than its first string. We need Valentine and Lawerence in this game. We also need Devin White. And if I'm Aranda I'm moving Key around all over the place. Left side, right side, middle, send him from everywhere to confuse the offensive line.
I'm much more optimistic with the present coaching staff than I would have been with Cam and Less. Geaux Tigers.
This really depends on the offense. If we can sustain a few drives and at least keep the t.o.p. even they should have a difficult time scoring. Also, depends on if we can control Hurts. I think this is the year we get over the hump. But as usual, it really all comes down to QB play. If you really look at these two teams since Saban has been there, the team that has better QB play wins.
Great point. Also curious to see how Bama runs the ball. They havent played a decent run defense. I know they will get some yards, but if it is 2nd and 5, will they be able to run it for the first on the next two plays? Conversely, we havent seen a good defense in a while, so curious if we can find some explosive plays.
