I'm not raving. I just don't like what the LSU program is becoming. It's moving downhill fast. CLM has us by the balls and he knows it. He's still here because of his buyout.
He's still here because he's had more success than any other coach in the history of LSU football. That doesn't mean there isn't room for improvement, but it means that you don't kick the most successful coach you've ever had to the curb until you're absolutely sure he's lost his mojo. I think it's clear he has struggled lately, but it's faaaaaar from clear whether he can turn it around or not. He's earned the shot to see if he can.
So, YOU think. @LSUDad hinted late last season that it was Chief not holding his weight, all the while most of us were complaining about the offense. Do you think maybe Chief's looking around and considering other offers had to do with his sense that his feet were being held to the fire? His D gave up late TDs against formidable opponents in multiple games over the past few years, he was not active in recruiting, and the talent was leaving w/o replacements. Yes, Chief left at a time that was unexpected, but his departure is not all that shocking when you consider he was probably feeling the heat. CLM took his time, turned down some, and was turned down by some. Such is life. In the end, I think our defense will be more effective moving forward with our current group of coaches. There seems to a fire lit, imo.
Cheif's seat wasn't hot. They offered him a new contract but he wouldn't sign it. That doesn't seem like someone on the hot seat to me
Well, I don't think they wanted to lose him, just wanted him to step up more. And, I think the administrators did not want to reward the diminishing product they were seeing.
We're ranked once again, did you miss that? And we have the top-ranked recruiting class right now. WTF are you talking about? He is here because he averages 10 wins in the toughest league, has a perennial top-10 recruiting ranking, and has taken us to two national championship games. I have enjoyed the golden age of LSU football in this century and I plan to enjoy Les' 11th straight winning season this year. But you may whine if it makes you feel good.
Y'all do know Chief had two worst years than Mallveto? Bo left Chief with a ton of talent, please, I'd rather not get into this. Let it go. Check with anyone on O. Look at the guys sent into the NFL. I don't care who you are, nick won't hire a bad coach twice. Like I always say, want to know how good a coach is? Ask other coaches.
