I agree that it's time to move on. Everything that needed to be said has been said. If Miles hasn't gotten the picture by now, he never will. It's not going to be forgotten though (not that it should) and the atmosphere is much worse than even I thought after listening to his show last night and to some other local shows.

I can't recall many times when one event totally changed the outlook of a fanbase toward a coach like this one. Even many of his big supporters are now "support the team" fans. They've been tough on him. The media is making it even worse.

There is a big issue though. When you're paying someone that much money and everyone hopes that the time management part of the game is assigned to someone else, that's not good. You need the top guy to have a pulse on everything. That's why he's the top guy or head coach. It's like we're just hoping that he doesn't screw up the time management when you should feel basically confident in that aspect. Even though it was just one game, now everyone is adding every near disaster he's had on top of it. And I don't know that people are that confident that they will get it right in the future.

I really like the guy and he has produced very good results, but I don't know how well he is really going to recover from this. The team needs to start looking better very soon (like they did before these last few games). I definitely think that if we have another year like this next year, it's over for him. I wasn't sure about that before, but I am now. There's just gonna be too much pressure from the fans, athletic dept. and co., media, etc. He needs to totally get out of this overall conservative approach and let loose with the talent (especially the younger talent). They actually weren't conserative against Ole Miss when they needed to be and it cost them the game. They need to work on their timing and know when to take risks.

I wish him the best, but I'm concerned.

so what happens when the coach after miles loses 3 or 4 games in a season??

can you even name a program in america up to those standards you list?

maybe florida? 1 team out of 120 is the best and nothing less.

what happens when saban loses to fla in atl, he will have already lost as many seccg's with bama as he won with LSU.

is bama the best and nothing less?

i don't get it. should there never be rebuilding years?

LSU went 4 years in btwn NC's. aren't they on pace to compete for another in '11?

won't they be in discussion to win the conference next year more than preseason this year?

Les screwed up bigtime before the entire nation, we all know that. He knows that better than anyone, and he hates that it happened more than anyone. He's the one who has been drug across the coals on national TV ever since the game was over. I was mad at him too, mad as hell. But I'm not anymore, being mad helps nothing. He is our coach, like it or not. The fact that he is our coach should be reason enough to move on and put that mistake in the past and stop being mad. But that's not why I'm not mad anymore. I'm not mad at him anymore because I like him. I like him as a man and I like what he stands for. I hate the way that game ended and I NEVER expect to see us finish a game that way again. The first step is a win this week. I don't want him gone, I want him to succeed right here at LSU!

what concerns me more, is the reports that his family is catching heat for his decision. that is just way past the line, imo.

how are we supposed to keep a coach, or get another quality coach to come here if they know their families are going to be the targets of irrate fans when they make a mistake?

imo, going after family members, especially kids, reflects bad on the entire fan base. i am having a real hard time grasping what he must be feeling if these reports are true.

What bothers me the most about all of this is that all of the negative trash that goes on about him on this and other forums has to have a negative impact on the recruits. And don't believe for a second that they or someone close to them doesn't read this stuff. They are 17 and 18 year old kids and not only do they hear the national press ridiculing him but when the Tiger fans do, it could easily cause them to look somewhere else.

I agree with this post -- no one is perfect, get behind him again and move on. Our boys need us.

Good post... and as much as he loves LSU, if the rumor is true then it could also change his mind about wanting to continue coaching here. Knee jerk reactions like what we've seen since saturday night could very well bring much more negativity to the program then any amount of good that could come from it.
