Looking over the last 3 years LSU had the highest % of penalties enforced against them as compared to their opponents. 285 enforced penalties against LSU and 217 against their opponents for 56.8%. The league average was only 50.4%. One school had the lowest number of penalties enforced against them and the highest number of penalties enforced against their opponents, 180, 264 and of course the lowest % of 40.5%. Vandy was the only school within (exactly) 5% points of the best performing team, 4 schools were within 5% points of LSU.
Looks like you have uncovered the conspiracy we have known about for years!! It's a conspiracy, I tell ya'!!
or the possibility of gaining a first down. LSU is a heavily penalized team, i think we all notice this. most of it has to do with the confusion on offense, and they're trying to speed things up for jefferson et al.
These two things are unrelated. LSU is heavily penalized and I don't really recall very many of them being unreasonable or unwarranted. However, Bama clearly is either an amazingly disciplined team with very smart players (way smarter even than Vandy) or benefits from some home cooking when the penalties are more of the subjective variety. I hate conspiracy theories (like Rivals favoring Bama recruits, etc). But the stats are pretty uncanny.
