A head coaches job is to win and graduate players. Some win by developing QBs. Some win by developing assistants. Some win by installing stifling defensive packages. Some win by recruiting well and getting kids to run through a wall for them. Regardless of how they do it, their job requirement is to win and graduate players. No one gives a shit how they do it, as long as it's by the rules. Anyone tells you different, they're full of shit. No coach ever got fired because he was goofy, called a poor game or lost a couple five-star recruits. They were fired because they lost.

I consider myself lucky to be a fan of a school who employs a Head Coach who wins, graduates players and entertains while doing it...

The more reps Jennings gets the better, he is the future after all. Plus I feel he is a weapon we could use later on in the season. Remember Jennings isn't a running qb, he is a pocket guy who can run, so the more he is put in the game to run that wildcat, the more opposing teams get film of him doing just that. That means when he does drop back to throw after all these runs it's gonna be unpredictable.

There's a pretty good article in the current Sports Illustrated detailing 8 keys to beating Alabama. One of them is a mobile QB. Furthermore, the mobile QB is becoming more and more of a weapon in CFB. Look across the landscape and you'll notice that this type of QB is on the rise and for good reason. Miles is preparing the Freshman for next year, a backup this year and another weapon for this offense. If everything I have read about this young man is true, he could be a game changer. The use and need for red shirts is declining. More true Freshman come in ready to make an impact and more juniors are ready to head to the NFL. So there really is no need to get too worried about burning a tool to keep him here longer.

Much better to throw him into the game when you have the opportunity to prepare him.

that's a beautiful thing...an athletic, mobile, pocket passer! let's not forget also, everything i read is he's a student of the game and spends a lot of time in the film room. i'm excited as hell! first, lets hope first mett has a year that will make him a first round pick. if so, everything else will take care of itself, imho.

I think I've just heart one time too many that Miles needs to "keep his hands off of" (insert any part of the game.) Criticism is fine, but I still find it ludicrous that fans don't understand that Miles knows way more than any of them about the game of football, and it's his responsibility to be hands-on with his team. It appears that many LSU fans think Miles should stand on the sidelines, keep his mouth shut at all times, and stay out of working with the offense, the defense, or the special teams.

Some fans do feel that way. I don't. I think he should be a player's coach on the sideline and make sure their head is in the game.

We've played tons of guys in the first 3 games of a season who then were redshirted. The ncaa rubber stamps the redshirt request. If you don't believe go to lsusports.net and look at the participation charts for the first 3 games of each season and you will find many guys who were awarded a redshirt.

No doubt, and that is not surprising at all. Imagine the butterflies he had lining up for that first snap in Tiger Stadium! I hope we get to see more of him next week and that he continues to progress due to his hard work and talent. Never know what the future will bring and he might be needed.

That's why I'd like to see some of Rivers in these cupcake games. He's got three years in the system and we may need him badly if Jennings doesn't work out.
