That is the most likely probability! It was meant on relative terms. Which I didn't specify. That person may be worthy in relation to coaching ability, but not in personal relation to the players. Miles strikes me as a coach the players love to play for. In that respect, Miles will definately be hard to replace. Hopefully, Miles will be around for a good long while.
No coach is perfect. Miles has a few big faults. Mainly the way he handled our offense since 07. I think his insistence on using guys from within the system instead of getting better talent outside the system cost us 1 NC at least. however i fully recognize that without him and his great ability to recruit and coach up players we may have never been in that situation to begin with. He was able to get Chief and keep his hands off the D which was a great move. I hope that the Cam move will be the exact same and we will finally be able to get another ring. I do not want another coach and I finally think we have a staff in place to get us where we want to be.
Enough with the stupid "keep his hands off" remarks with regards to Miles. You do know that he actually isn't an idiot, right? You also know that he knows as much about football as the guys he hires to help coach HIS team, right? If he was hands-off and loses, people would bitch about him not being involved enough.
I think I've said this here before, but Les Miles is Dale Brown with one huge difference -- CLM has a National Championship. Many of Miles' players refer to him as a father figure, as did Coach Brown's. Miles gets a lot out of the talent he gets to campus, though Coach Brown was probably better at wringing every ounce of talent from players. Both coaches were fiercely competitive and fielded great teams and both appeared to believe that the second line on their job descriptions -- after winning games -- was to produce quality young men. And, I believe, when CLM does leave LSU football is going to founder for a while until another comparable coach is found.
We thought that last time. But after the success of Nick and Les, the local recruiting potential with no other BCS schools in-state, the football tradition, the SEC, and the top-notch facilities . . . top coaches will be lining up to apply for the position.
That was the strangest situation ever. But we can't really, truly know how the hire would have panned out.
I really wish we would have got to see what Bo would have done. May he R.I.P. Terrible circumstances surrounding that plane ride.
