I hope not. Everyone though Jamarcus was the second coming and Flynn waited patiently so he could lead LSU to a national championship. One bad play and he could be the starter.
Rettig will benefit from a redshirt year under Cameron. It will be a whole new competition in the spring with Mettenberger gone and Rettig should be right in it.
A dual qb system would be fine with me as long as both get the job done. Rettig may do better against the better run stop defenses. Met is definitely not a dual threat and he chopped tcu pretty good.
If Jennings is what he's hyped to be, he'll be gone after his Junior season, and Rettig will be the incumbent...unless somebody else comes along. But that's just a chance you take. If you can't make the starting lineup on your college team, then you aren't going to make an NFL roster, anyway.
There is always an example or two, as no rule is set in stone. But for every ONE that defies the norm, there are hundreds that don't.
While Matt Cassel may disagree, anyone who is unfortunate enough to have their pro team have Cassel as their quarterback is agreeing
2 of my roommates are huge Kansas City Chiefs fans. The amount of Matt Cassel bitching I heard last year was an extreme. They even were like ... "I'm not sure I'm upset that he got knocked out of the game"
That sounds like the Tiger Stadium crowd that cheered in the '08 Ole Miss debacle when Jarrett Lee got hurt--because they were rabid to see Jordan Jefferson. Chew on that one for a few minutes...
