Nix passed away on Monday in Auburn where he resided with his wife Gwen. Nix is the second winningest baseball coach in Auburn history. He posted a record of 515 wins and 376 losses.
Nix’s Auburn teams won four SEC East titles, three SEC West titles and three overall SEC titles. His top team, in 1967 featuring All-American pitcher Q.V. Lowe who is now head coach at AUM, finished 15-2 in the conference and 32-10 and made the College World Series. It was the first Auburn team to advance to Omaha. His 1976 team also advanced to the College World Series.
