I'm not a tree hugger and don't believe in this fabricated manmade global warming BS...but I get ticked when someone screws around with large old trees!

This is just not cool! He needs to go somewhere for a few years where he can't even see any trees. Wait until he's locked up and Bubba says bend over.

    Got wood?

When the story first broke all I heard was "Auburn" and "low-class". I immediately thought of Tommy Tuberville.

I'm curious. What's the actual charge that they can bring against him? Is it destruction of property? Something worse? Hoping they can nail him for everything they can.

Salting grass that can grow back after a few weeks or be replaced with sod..funny

Destroying a two trees that take hundreds of years to grow to that size...total douche bag move

Also opens the door for a civil suit. If they die, I suspect that AU would seek damages. In La, they could seek the value of the trees, perhaps the cost of replacing the trees, and maybe punitive damages.

Given that it cost around $40,000 - $60,000 to purchase a tree that size and another $20,000 to move them on the property, this could be costly.

He's currently being held on a charge of Criminal Mischief pending further investigation.

Further tests are also being conducted to determine the depth of the seepage from the herbicidal poison applied. Below a certain depth/percolation/concentration determination, it's a threat to enter the groundwater system. That's why the feds are now involved. Poisoning a water supply would make it domestic terrorism I'm told.

As I said in the other thread, a civil suit can be filed by AU. Take in the cost to replace the trees, and punitive damages, things could get costly.

    I'm thinking around $500,000.

ETA: Am I going crazy...or was there another thread????

Do you think that neck could satisfy the judgement. You can beat a rock with a hammer, but it still won't bleed.

What about Auburn to the East UK or Vandy to the West?

I know a lot of necks that are what you call "land rich and money poor." If the neck has property and they can get a judgement, then sure. If not, then a portion of his income (hmm...are social securtiy checks garnishable???) will go towards the university every month.

Plus once that judgment attaches it is there until it is paid, which means if the dumbass gets anything, AU will beable to take it.

I would LOVE for one of those schools to move to the east.
