I listened to it yesterday on my way to Gulf Shores. I came in in the middle of it but I couldn't understand why everyone was so worked up. The gist, as I understand it, is that Sheridan knows who the "bag man" is and the NCAA knows who the bag man is, but Sheridan won't divulge his source. Sheridan is a long time pal of Fiebaum and came on the show at Finebaum's request. I don't think he promised he would spill the beans. Finebaum found out at the last minute that Sheridan's lawyer would be on as well and that's when he realized it would not be a huge scoop. I think the bottom line is that Finebaum's AU listeners are scared sh!tless.
I have a bad feeling Emmert will be dropping a very big hammer on a lot of programs in the next few years. God only knows what will come out of the woodwork.
And almost on cue, here's an AP story on the Miami situation: Will Miami Case Lead To 'Fundamental Change'? | FoxNews.com
Red, don't you think it is highly doubtful someone at the NCAA would be leaking info to a gambler? And how can you be sued for telling the truth? My take on this whole thing is Sheridan had got to the point where no one paid attention to him anymore and he wanted to make a splash. He got in over his head with his claims and couldn't produce. It's a lot like the Cam Newton thing........people are polarized in their beliefs but so far there isn't one shred of fact that Cam violated any NCAA rule. Certainly the NCAA and FBI haven't found any evidence to punish him. But he was crucified by the media, many who now just want to ignore this "story."
books move lines every hour of every day because of information they get before other people. and it wouldnt be leaked. theyre probably just friends that have been doing similar business for decades. its not far fetched.
Wasnt Sheidan prepared to make a 7 figure bet with someone on the Finebaum show that he knew who the "bag man" was?
We dont know that yet, the case has not been closed. The FBI and/or NCAA is not going to move forward until they are 100% sure and ready. Thats how they roll Give it time, I am pretty sure there are other cases with other programs from a while back that are still being investigated that none of us have any idea about.
it would help if you folks acknowledged that just because hes not been convicted of anything its very likely auburn or an alum lined his pockets. this is like the parents who never acknowledge their kid does anything wrong since they arent there to witness it. i mean, be real. this guy is no angel and dan mullen wasnt the only one in bed with him. this is the same nonsense we heard from USC for years regarding reggie bush when common sense dictated otherwise. even though there was no REAL evidence. even offensive linemen get under the table handouts to go to an SEC school. do you really believe cam $$ newton just went there out of the goodness of his heart? that is a sweet little neverland story though.
Uhhhh, no. Anything can be leaked anywhere. An NCAA document could end up on Wikileaks. Gamblers can pay leakers more than most people, including reporters. You can be sued for slander and be forced to prove it is the truth. Sheridan says that he isn't worry about being convicted of slander, but thet he would be compelled under oath to reveal his NCAA source, which he isn't willing to do. Yet. They made a point of telling your coach that the investigation has not been closed. You're dreamin', baby. The story smells like a dead fish to most people outside of South Alabama.
