http://www.nytimes.com/2011/07/14/s...as-investigation-of-auburn-isnt-over-yet.html The NCAA has beefed up its investigative force and at recent SEC coaches meeting told Gene Chizik that Auburn and "Scam" Newton were still being investigated. Chizik was not amused.
Nothing will happen. Auburn made darn sure anything they did. If anything was well covered up..... Hate to disappoint but nothing will come of CAM and Auburn
I disagree, I think (at least for the time being) that the NCAA feels as if the barners sort of made them look foolish. I doubt that sits well with them. I read an article on cnnsi and apparently gene-o was a bit upset when told they were still under the microscope and asked when it would be over. The NCAA rep responded with "we'll let you know" or something to that effect. If you turn a house upside down and continue to shake it eventually what you are looking for will fall out. My current list of most hated have a top 3 of $cam newton, casey anthony, and obama/pelosi 3 and 3a in no particular order.
Nah, if they're being this persistent, they're out for blood and won't stop until they get what they're looking for. They've got serious egg on their face from the OSU debacle as well as this.
Clear this up a bit, will ya? I understand your comment about OSU, but how is this egg on their face?
I gotta think Auburn feels like they're in pretty good shape. Otherwise, Chizik wouldn't have publically antagonized an NCAA investigator.
The little game they played by reinstating Cam in record time after Auburn declared him ineligible springs to mind. Even assuming the move was technically legitimate, it certainly created the impression of corruption. The NCAA president doesn't make public statements on ESPN about legal loopholes if he's not trying to wipe egg off his organization's face. And now we learn after the OSU situation that their enforcement arm is also incompetent, since nobody was able (or willing) to connect the dots with Tressel for the better part of a decade.
I can't think of a more stupid move he could have made. He's practically inviting the NCAA to hang Auburn even if they only get the lightest of evidence. We all know how notoriously inconsistent and capricious the NCAA is. All it took was a grudge against Dale Brown to slap us with LOIC in the late 90s.
