    You're absolutely right!

But when players don't step up, *cough* D Byrd *cough*, it's Les' job to sit his ass down and someone else give it a shot.

Would you say Bush is 100% to blame for the economy? It all falls on Bush's shoulders, right? I can see that argument, and sure, if Miles doesn't get us back on track -- he is out, whether it is his fault or not. Even if Miles does the absolute most perfect job humanly possible of running LSU's football program--if we aren't winning enough, he will be gone. It's the nature of the beast.

    No. YOU'RE absolutely right.

BTW: I believe Byrd did see a reduction in PT, did he not?

Yes, the players should take some responsibility, but when your All-American is saying things like:

The large majority of the blame falls on the coaches. It starts with the head coach, and the team follows his lead.

Here, we have a player basically saying that practice has been lackadaisical this season, and just now they're getting in players' faces?

I'm disappointed that it took Miles so long to figure this out, but I'm actually pretty encouraged to see that he is taking action. 'Bout freaking time.

Again, you're a fool if you trust one guy's opinion on what is going on, be it Big Herm or not. Being an All-American, Herm is the least likely person to get yelled at by the coaches. For all we know, Herm himself is a poor leader and all the other players don't like him because he never gets yelled at and because he thinks everybody else is "lackadaisical." Can't just trust one player's opinion of what is going on. That's just silly. If you ran a business, would you want people judging your business on some sound-bite the media took from some kid employee of yours that was in his 20s?

You've said it yourself, it all goes back to Miles. That is the bottom line.

No. It all goes to being a top program that top recruits want to come play for. Miles has done a great job of that so far. Here is a recent quote from Russell Shepard (who was very heavily recruited by every major program in college football):

"I told [Coach Miles] even if they had gone 0-10 on the season I would still be going to LSU.

We are about to land the top recruting class in LSU history. Anybody who is talking negative about Miles right now is nuts. Or would you rather we start over with somebody like a Gene Chizik or Lane Kiffin?

I'm not saying fire Miles, I'm saying the bottom line is that he is responsible for how this season turned out. EVERYTHING falls back on the coach. Some of the blame goes to the players, all of the blame goes to the coach. A great coach knows how to get the most of his players, a great coach hires a great staff that he is ultimately responsible for as well, a great coach is results oriented. Miles may be a great coach, and I am still on his bandwagon, but my confidence was a little shaken this season. Saban was not beyond criticism and neither is Miles.

Miles seems to be doing a great job recruiting, but the first year with his recruits exclusively (or almost) didn't go so well. I am excited that we have a chance to finish with a nationally recognized recruiting class, but what matters more is results.

You can defend Miles, and I'll say again I'm still on his bandwagon, but to behave as if he is beyond reproach is disingenuous.

I don't see how it helps LSU football to be negative about our coach. Our coach the figure-head of LSU football: if we are negative toward him, it reflects negatively on our whole program. I don't see how it helps recruiting, or the reputation of LSU football to be negative about our coach. Players come and go, but the coach is a fixture. Unless, of course, you want to start over again like Auburn and Tenn did with Chizik and Kiffin.

Have some faith in the person Skip Bertman (5-time National Championship coach) chose to be the coach of our football team, Les Miles. Why criticize him? If LSU's overall record under Miles gets sub-par, he will be gone. That is a given. It is retarded to criticize Miles when we all know that we will fire him if his record doesn't stay great. Be positive, support our coach (which is what is best for LSU football, our reputation, and our recruiting).

To not support him, means you are doing a much worse job as an LSU fan than what you think Miles is doing as LSU head coach.
