Re: Attitude Adjustments - who's next?

Pat Peterson started for us as a true freshman this year. It's not that Miles won't start freshmen, it's that there is no guarantee Shep is good enough to beat out the older QBs like Peterson beat out the older CBs. I do think Shep will see the field as a true freshman: maybe on running plays, or as a kick/punt returner, or as a WR, etc -- just like many freshman have seen the field during their first year at LSU (last year, 5 true freshmen saw the field -- Chad Jones, Terrance Toliver, Drake Nevis, Joseph Barksdale, and Jarvis Jones).

You're right, but that's not what i said.

I said Miles doesn't start freshman right away.

Peterson wasn't the opening day starter, Eugene was. It took poor play on Eugene's part for PP to get the starting job.

Miles is loyal to a fault. No way Shepard starts over Jefferson.....right away.

Some may not like what I have to say but I'm not surprised by this information.
It showed in many games this year.
If there isn't any player or senior leadership the head coach has to be the leader.
It all falls on his shoulders.
I'll say it once again, as good as CLM's has been since he has been here, he totally dropped the ball in 2008.
What happened to CLM's and this football team in 2008 is a total mystery to me outside the obvious situations with injuries and new players.
Btw, as good as Sheppard could be?
We could have Tim Tebow at QB but if everyone else has a lazy attitude and the defense struggles we could still lose 3 or
    4 games next year.
There is no one player fix, it falls on the coaches and head coaches shoulders to fix things!

    Heres to better days ahead!

    This can't be argued!

Les loss control of this team, but if the article in the advocate is true, he's trying to get it back.

I can handle this horrible season if, and only if, Miles understands that changes are desperately needed.

I've said it before, this off-season is of the utmost importance for Miles' future at LSU.

Miles deserves blame for this year. But to blame him 100% and to not blame the kids at all is retarded.

Like luvdimtigers said in the other thread: JaMarcus Russell, Tim Tebow, Pryor, none started the season as the starter.

    Same with Herb Tyler.

It's rare when any coach purposely starts a true freshman QB right away.

I think what he's sayin' is the players have to step up. Coaches can only do so much. The players share some of the burden of developing into a great football team - including internal player leadership.

Re: Attitude Adjustments - who's next?

    Exactly!

Obviously, QB is the most important position in football so not many freshman start right away.

But other positions, (RB,WR,DB,etc.) freshman are more commonly to start right away. But with Miles' loyalty, i doubt we will ever see that.

Re: Attitude Adjustments - who's next?

Well, I think its retarded not to blame him 100% because what I read in the beginning of this thread, if thats true.
Looks like there was a lazy and lack luster attitude all season, this could also cause a discipline problem.

How do you NOT blame a head coach 100% for not having the right kind of atmosphere and attitudes in place to play football?
