Remember to get into the stadium before the band starts. An experience you'll never forget. I still get goosebumps!!!!!
I will be looking for some of that good hospitality, me and the wife are coming down from memphis for our 1 year anniversary (dont ask me how I talked her into letting us go the game). Itll be my second game (uf 07) and her first. Took me a couple years to convert her to an lsu fan, but it was well worth it
We always park near the law center. It's a hop, skip, and a jump away from the katters. But getting out... that's another story. If you plan on tailgating, walmart carries small portable gas grills with the little green bottles. Easy to set up and easy to clean.
I would echo stevescookin and try to leave on Friday for Baton Rouge. If you can leave work in the afternoon and get into BR late Friday, you'll be in much better shape. If you're budget conscious, grab a family box of Popeye's, a couple of fifths of your favorite hooch, a gallon of water for everyone in your party, and get there noonish on Saturday. I no longer live in the area, but when I would go to games, I'd target the area along Nicholson Drive and the Nicholson Extension. There is plenty of parking there, but don't expect to drive out of there until after midnight. The free lot next to the U lot, and all along the tracks there are an easy walk to the stadium and a great place to soak in the welcoming fans.
Not if you KEEP telling people about it! If this is your first time tailgating, I suggest you go to the Varsity and hang out. They will have food, drink specials and lots of games on TV. Including on the movie screen. You may be able to park on the back side of the law center. You can almost forget about trying to set up a tailgate spot getting there at 11:00. We get out there at 7:00 for our prime location.
no sh!t, that post should be on a flyer that they hand out to parents of incoming freshmen. Oh and to the original poster of this thread, it must feel really good knowing you have a kid who was smart enough to choose the best damn University in the States. :geaux:
I would not try and tailgate my first time coming in from Houston, there is no reason too. Just on this forum alone you can find 3-4 great areas to hang out and tailgate with. There will be plenty of food and beverages for you to enjoy if you choose not to bring your own. There is a bus service this year running near your hotel (Perkins Road @ Acadian Thruway (North West Lot)) that cost ~$1 each way. Might be a better solution than trying to drive and park. It starts 4 hours before kickoff and runs 1 hour after kickoff. From there you ought to be able to get back to your hotel easy enough. Don't worry about the tailgating part of this, it is not like anyplace you have ever been before. Just show up, walk around and you will be amazed at the sights and hospitality. Bus service site.
