This may have been asked before, but I don't remember. I've noticed in the box scores for LSU baseball, there is a huge discrepancy between the tickets sold and and actual attendance. For example, all 3 games vs Dartmouth had sold right at 10,000 tickets, but the actual attendance was about 4,500 for each game. The Grambling game earlier in the week had right at 10,000 tickets sold, but only less than 3,000 came to the game. What are the reasons for this?
Cheap tickets, season tickets, the number of games... With football, ever game is unique and special... with baseball if you don't make it on Friday, doesn't matter... there are two more games against the same people.
Friday was pretty gloomy. We had some sprinkles and was pretty windy. We were waiting for the sky to fall but it never did. I think in these situation some people don't want to get wet watching a small school playing us. It will pick up when we get into SEC play.
it will be interesting to see if we break the attendance record again this year (so far the individual game attendance record has been broken every season) from here on out, we only have 6 weekends left in the Box (7 if we host a regional)... 1) Michigan (Fri/Sat) / Notre Dame (Sun/Mon) -- 2 games vs each 2) #18 Mississippi State (SEC Opener) -- last time we played Miss St. in the Box, 2010, they weren't ranked and the attendance was: Fri (5507 actual/10279 paid), Sat (6837 actual/10831 paid), Sun (6266 actual/10743 paid) 3) #4 Arkansas -- last time we played Arky in the Box, 2010, they were ranked #13, and the attendance was: Fri (7932 actual/11225 paid), Sat (6877 actual/10944 paid), Sun (4147 actual/10168 paid) 4) Alabama -- last time we played Bama in the box, 2010, they weren't ranked and we still set the all-time LSU record for both actual and paid attendance in the Saturday game (10019 actual/12313 paid), and that actual attendance record has since been broken. the Fri game had 8556 actual/11332 paid, and the Sun game had 7212 actual/10744 paid 5) #9 Georgia -- last time we played UGA in the Box, 2010, they weren't ranked and the attendance was: Fri (8023 actual/11010 paid), Sat (7468 actual/10835 paid), Sun (4604 actual/10021 paid) 6) Vanderbilt (they were preseason #10 this year, and last year they swept us in Nashville and the year before that they won the series 2-1 in the Box) -- last time we played Vandy in the Box, 2010, they were ranked #18, and the attendance was: Fri (7059 actual/10640 paid), Sat (NA/NA), Sun (4837 actual/10304 paid) last year, we broke the actual attendance record vs Florida: In the season opener vs Wake Forest, we had 10,005 actual (of 12070 paid). Then, in our first big series versus #6 Cal State Fullerton, we had a very well-attended weekend: Fri (9,516 actual/11738 paid), Sat (9,511 actual/11803 paid), Sun (8,167 actual/10850 paid) And the next week, we again broke the actual attendance record vs #1 Florida: Fri (10,220 actual/12076 paid), Sat (10,202 actual/11703 paid), Sun (7,793 actual/10783 paid)
