Georgia Dome Just got tickets to the Sept. 4th game. Looking for a hotel for the wife and I to stay. We have tried the ones close to the dome, however they all seem to be booked. Would like something south and west of the stadium. Anyone have a suggestion. Thanks
Re: Georgia Dome The Marriott Marquis and the Downtown Westin are nice. You can walk to the dome from there, but it is kind of a long walk.
Re: Georgia Dome Grand Hyatt aslo fairly nice and is not as much as some other hotels. Is a bit of a walk but it is close to a lot of restaurants.
Re: Georgia Dome If by south and west of the stadium, you mean to the imediate area south and west of the stadium, you might be a bit out of luck as hotels are more east (downtown) and north (midtown). From downtown Atlanta you can walk to the stadium and from midtown you can take Marta for around $2.00 each way. Way south of the stadium is the airport and you should be able to get a hotel down there and with an easy hotel shuttle ride you can again hope on Marta to get to the stadium. I can't recommend a specific hotel at the airport, but be sure that they are definitely airport hotels as I have been told. Further west of the stadium I am not able to help as I am as I am just not familiar with hotels along that route. Also, I checked a couple of internet travel websites and a whole lot of hotels were available for the game weekend. Good Luck and have fun in the ATL
Re: Georgia Dome Thanks guys. How far is the Dome from the airport? I did not mean immediately south and west of the dome. We will be entering Atlanta from La. and I wanted to stay on the side we were coming in from.
Re: Georgia Dome There isn't alot west of the GA dome. It is mostly just bad neighborhoods. Most people overlook it, but the city of Decatur is a great place to stay for a game. You can walk to the Marta stop from anywhere in the city and not worry. There are lots of bars and shops. The best bar in Atlanta (Brickstore Pub) is in downtown Decatur less than a hundred yards from the MARTA stop and spitting distance from the Holiday Inn Express.
Re: Georgia Dome It is about 20mins on the Marta from the stadium to the airport and about 10mins, no traffic, stadium to airport.
Re: Georgia Dome There is a HP conference in town that weekend. Everything is reserved for booked for them. Good thing my buddy works for HP. We got a couple rooms at the Omni hotel at the CNN Center.
