You can't even imagine how much it hurt to write that because I LOATHE the Falcons, but with SF falling to the Vikings today and (as of this post) ATL crushing SD on the road, they may just be the best team in football right now. Hopefully, they'll have a late season collapse and/or an early exit from the playoffs, but I'm not sure who if anyone, is playing better than them right now.
They are good. Good, sound QB (Matty Ice). Great WR's (Julio, Roddy, Hugh Douglas, etc). Nice running game (Turner, Quizz). Good kicker (Bryant). Solid D. Saints are having a 'down year', Cam Newton is over rated, TB is decent. The NFC South isn't the tough conference it once was. It's early though. We'll see.
I don't see anyone beating Atl in the South. But I'm not ready to argue that they can beat the 49ers, even after seeing SF lose to the Vikes.
