I thought this kid was like an LSU lock? On Rivals, LSU had always been listed as high and everyone else was average. What happened?

Waited too long. We are full at

that position. He is a very good player and I hate that we don't have room but you can't fill up a class with just db's. Especially with our scholarship shortages this year. This is unprecedented where LSU has to turn away players of this caliber.

LSU didn't turn Atkins down, he wanted to play closer to home so that his family could go to the games.

Not what I heard. That is

just the party line. I am not one to usually say "we didn't want that guy" when a good player chooses to go elsewhere. And don't tell me "he said so in an interview". I know what he said and I know what I was told before he made his decision.

Your comment that we are full at that position (implying CB) led me to believe that you were confusing S Ishie Oduegwu with CB Atkins. Ishie was turned away when he tried to commit because we have 3 commits at safety. My assumption is that we're still looking for a CB.

As far as what you were told before his decision... I'd be interested to hear if you care to share. My info. is strictly from the pay sites and I have to go off of what the kid is quoted as saying. His comments are what I based my remarks on "First it was Florida, then it was LSU, now it's Florida," Atkins told GatorBait.net Sunday night. "I had to weigh out all my options. I have my mom and four brothers and all of my family in Daytona and that would be too much, to expensive for them to travel to my games in Louisiana. My family has been my biggest supporters since I started football. Florida and LSU are even everywhere and Gainesville is closer to home."

Did he tell someone (who in turn told you) that he was turned away? Did he actually try and commit?

His 3rd cousin was told by his baby momma which was relayed over to TigerSkin.

Come on Tigerskin, give us the goods.

He did not get an offer in writing from LSU. You can't commit to a school without an official offer. Don't forget that we already have an "extra db recruit" for next year in Sammy Joseph.
