Waited too long. We are full at that position. He is a very good player and I hate that we don't have room but you can't fill up a class with just db's. Especially with our scholarship shortages this year. This is unprecedented where LSU has to turn away players of this caliber.

Not what I heard. That is just the party line. I am not one to usually say "we didn't want that guy" when a good player chooses to go elsewhere. And don't tell me "he said so in an interview". I know what he said and I know what I was told before he made his decision.
Your comment that we are full at that position (implying CB) led me to believe that you were confusing S Ishie Oduegwu with CB Atkins. Ishie was turned away when he tried to commit because we have 3 commits at safety. My assumption is that we're still looking for a CB. As far as what you were told before his decision... i thought after Atkins decommitted from Fl. He would be wearing the purple and gold but i guess he decided he would rather see the purple and gold.
He did not get an offer in writing from LSU. You can't commit to a school without an official offer. Don't forget that we already have an "extra db recruit" for next year in Sammy Joseph.
