Tiga, they may be ranked top ten but do they deserve it? Who has many of them played except each other? Uo is ranked 6th but the only ooc game aginst a worthy opponet was aginst lsu and they were embarrassed. Who has Stanford played except other pac12 teams? They play each other and that's what their ranking is based on. You have one PAC 12 team playing another. When PAC 12 teams meet ooc teams that are highly ranked they usually lose. The only teams thay beat are each other and I think the entire conference is overrated as a whole. We will see just how good they are come bowl time.
I have been on this board for a year and a half. I spend a few hours a day on this board. I have seen lots of people come and go. By far you are the one poster I have seen that nobody really likes. People tell you to shoot yourself and jump off buildings and all kinds of chit. You have been called everything from a 12 year old kid to a troll to a stupid retard and on and on. You have called out many people on this board. You have dissed red, izzy, fish and many more. You start at least one stupid phucking thread every day. You don't think before you post. You call people names. There has been a call by several people to have you banned and red has specifically warned you and put you on notice. You've been here only a few weeks and have worn out your welcome here by just about everyone. You are on several people's ignore list. So on a personal note, fang, listen closely so I don't have to tell you twice. Phuck you little boy. Now go burn that. I'm through with you.
That's the million dolla question. It's not just about "them deserving" a top 10 ranking, it's also about if the "#1 team" deserves it. Even IT is questioned annually, it seems, definitely debated. Doesn't really matter to me. I like to make people think and not take things at face value. It's made people on here despise me and often think I was "pro" this or "anti" that when in fact I wasn't. On that note, consider this. In 2009 the PAC10 went 1-6 vs Moutain WEST teams in their regular season but when bowl season came around the PAC was 5-0. See how hard it can be? The old "eye ball test." Personally, I don't use bowl records to judge conferences. Excluding BCS matchups the rest are often one conference's #3 team vs. another's #6. Especially this year, for example. The SEC's two best teams that would maul any other teams but only one LSU will be able to garner a "W" for the SEC and Bama is going to count as an "L".
article states if Kalil and Barkley return USC may jump LSU in the rankings. 1) Kalil will be a top 2 pick, depending if the colts take luck. 2) USC's team this year with Kalil and barkley, still couldn't hang with LSU, why jump up the same team over this team?
Very few PAC teams venture out to play tough ooc teams. Remember the Katrina year? We played either arizona or Arizona state and come from behind to beat them. We beat the ducks this year when they ventured ooc. The ducks lost to Boise state( wow how embarrassing) when they went ooc. Very few PAC teams have the courage to play significant teams that aren't in the PAC 12. They get most of their rankings by playing each other. I wonder just how good they really are or because there are tens of millions on the west coast if there rankings have anything to do with keeping intrest and tv's turned on. It seems like PAC -12 teams score lots of points - on each other. This is so much the reason that a play off is needed. If Stanford, USC and uo had to face lsu, bama and arky in play offs I wonder just how well they would do. Or is the same three PAC 12 teams had to face okie state, Wisconsin and Kansas state how well they would do? When PAC 12 teams only play each other all year it leaves doubt in my mind how much their rankings are true reflections of how good they really are or how good some want everyone to believe they are.
Well that's pretty much the SEC's MO too. In fact moreso than the PAC 10. We've beefed up our OOC the past couple of years, yes, but let's not act like it's BEEN that way. Sorry but on THAT point you are incorrect. One needs to look no further than Bama's schedule. Though the PAC fans have hammered the SEC for doing so they've turned to the same thing, recently. They've realized that 6 wins = money and the more 6 win teams go to bowl the more $$ for the conference. Even still, here are just a few PAC 10 OOC games I pulled. Washington played Nebraska Oregon played LSU Stanford played Notre Dame USC played Minnesota and syracuse Washington played Nebraska To say they don't play legit OOC games is a reach. Not all of these are world-beaters but they're not Georgia Southern's or Northwestern's either.
Yea I guess I'm sorta like being the pot calling the kettle black. Still, the sec does seem to back up our boasting. The only bcs bowls I seem to remember the sec losing was the arky flop last year. I do remember the Penn state loss by us and Utah beating bama but for the most part sec teams do win aginst ooc teams in the big games. It seems like the only way for the sec to lose a championship game is to put two sec teams in the game. The only way for the sec to lose a bcs game is to put arky in it. Was the bama - Utah game a bcs bowl? I can't remember.
Well the beauty of all this is, as LSU fans, we can tell the PAC 10 where to get off cause we just don't lose to them. It's been like the 70's and only 3 losses EVER unless you use the "new" conference alignment which is still 20 wins to 4 losses when you throw in Colorado. As for the Bama/Utah, it was BCS (Sugar). A shocker for me in 2007 Cap One bowl when Florida tanked vs. Michigan
