Yeah but that dang OL and DL is what makes me SICK!!!o: It will be a joy for the new qb to learn the position playing behind that OL.
We are listed as having the best front 7 in the SEC and imo possibly the nation. Our stingy D will keep us in games... we just need to find our offense... but with all but a few returning... we should put points on the board.
most of the recent decline for LSU in the preseason polls is just a hangover from the RP issue. JMO, but I don't think it actually changes much for LSU, it's still likely to come down to the winner of the LSU-AU game in September, and I'm not under the illusion that LSU doesn't have the makings of a good QB in either Hatch or Lee. I'm interested in seeing if Miles will be bold enough to put Patrick Johnson on an island in such a high-stakes game so early in the season. Its a real testament to the quality depth of the defense that they likely won't miss Glenn Dorsey all that much. Make no mistake, there are other teams in the west that have the capability to jump up and bite either Auburn or LSU, however, both teams will field a Defense that's strong enough to keep them "in" any game they play. Nutt will show a marked improvement with Ole Miss this season and a lot of people are trying to summarily dismiss them. But Jevan Snead is the real deal and my prediction is that by mid-season, many folks will consider JS one of the top 3 QB's in the conference. There's also a good chance that the much traveled Jerrell Powe will also qualify to play thanks to a recent SEC rule change on admissions. If Ole Miss stays healthy, they are going to compete. Croom beat both Auburn and Alabama last season, and the only things preventing MSU from winning more conference games are "health" and a couple of skill-position players. LSU has a good running game already, but its going to definitely need to develop the passing game before they face the Bullies 'cause it looks like Croom will sell out to stop the run. Bama is still building, but is building quickly. While Saban should not be underestimated, I still think Bama is a year away from contending. It was Bear Bryant that said you'll lose a game for every freshman you're forced to start ...... and Bama will surely play a several freshmen/RS Fr. I've got Bama losing no less than 4 conference games. Arkansas is the real wild card to me ...... Petrino is one helluva gameday coach and he knows how to develop quarterbacks and receivers. But I wonder if Arky has enough depth to hang with the big boys on it's schedule, and I believe their defense is going to miss DC Reggie Herring a lot more than they anticipated.
boy, you're really going out on a limb there putting snead above the cant miss nfl prospects like dick, smelley and hatch. and i think you mean --the third best QB---because the top two are kinda spoken for. overall, i agree with your analysis. definitely smells like a tiebreaker year (maybe even three-way).
