The HUGE difference is the TCU coach does not and will not make the kind of mistakes MILES MAKES over and over, the article is about coaches, not teams. That's also why Patterson was ranked ahead of Miles. LSU wins many games despite what Miles does and plans,(players) and then there are the others that were obvious gamble's that worked out.
Patterson does not have LSU talent and may never, but if you watch EVERY game of both teams as I do, it is not even close in which coach makes more stupid mistakes.

Recruiting players, hiring the right assitants, and running the program all go into being a good HEAD Coach. LSU isn't this good by a fluke, this goddamn program does not run itself. I haven't watched all of TCU's games, but I do know that Miles in game gaffes get way more attention that other coaches. I watched Saban totally mismanage the clock in the SEC champ. game last year (and Richt), with hardly a mention. If Miles would do it, ESPN and Miles haters would focus on it for weeks. I can site blunders by Mack Brown, and Pete Carroll, and many others. My guess is that list would include Patterson too, since he's one of the "coaching geniuses" appointed by the media.

I keep an eye on TCU, like the loss to Iowa St. a 6-7 team. It was good to see them win an OT game against WV, going back to 2007 Patterson was 0-3 on OT games. With losses to SMU, Air Force and TT. Why doesn't Patterson have the talent? He has the state of Tx to get players, 400 kids every year sign out of high school, why can't they get some of the better players?

Hmmmm, the last time TCU played Boise, was at Boise in Kellen Moore's senior season. NO TEAM had beat them on that field since 1996 outside of a bowl game.....to include Oregon who dropped Boise from the schedule before the season started the year they played Auburn for the NC. No other team beat them that year including Georgia and Arizona State. You can say what you want but they went 12-1 and I don't see anyone knocking Boise's door down to bring them in their conf ......I wonder why???

He has only been in the Big 12 one year. Give him some time, check the prelim rankings for 2014, a substantial jump over where they have been. They are getting some of the better players..........the Big 12 Defensive Freshman POY Devonte Fields. He does have a former QB that starts for one of those NFL teams and has since the day he walked into camp. They just dont get as many, yet. Since you keep an eye on TCU I'm also sure you are very familiar with what happened on the team the week of the ISU game............actually it was like 3 days before the game.;) They did just pick up a big QB from Ft Worth that according to FWST had an offer from Alabama, Foster Sawyer, running 4.7 at 6'5" is not exactly a bad thing for a Pro Style QB.

I'll take it your intramural career ended prematurely???? My son's senior team went 11-1 and finished 9th in one poll. I'm not sure what YOUR accomplishments are but perhaps you can tell me??? My son knows all about Les Miles, he won't cry his eyes out regardless of the result. I dont think you saw too many TCU games last year either, if you had, you would know how close that record is to being the same record LSU finished with while starting more freshmen and RS freshmen.

It's funny how these threads that start about sometiing less than complimentary about Les Miles disgress so far off course so fast. There is NO WAY any LSU fan can "explain away" the LSU loss in the NC game, the Alabama loss this year and ESPECIALLY the Clemson loss. The author of this article must have seen all those games too.

Give him some time, hes been there 13 years. They should be getting great players from the state of Tx. Too many kids in that state. I use to keep up with Rusty when he was at SMU with a couple of my coaching friends.

Yep, before the ISU game. Remember this. LSU lost during the season :

    Kwon Alexander after 7 games
    Blue after 3 games
    Faulk after 1 game
    Hurst after 6 games
    Williford after 6 games

Thats three starting OL, starting RB and a Starting LB (Alexander had started 2 games before the injury).
This is not counting TM. I think this staff did a great job last year. Name me another team that could have lost the three starting OL and still finished like LSU did? The two starting OT's and the OG. To put a TF OT in at midseason, thats wild.

LSU played a ton of freshmen, knowing they would be needed this year. If we had any sort of an offense last year, things would have been real good. Lost 3 games by 13 pts. Beat JF at home.

And how does that change what I said? The horny goats choked in the BCS and legitimized Boyz 2 Men's claim to national recognition, ala Stoops. Unforgivable. Terribly coached game by Patterson.

And since you're obviously unaware, no one is asking Boyz 2 Men to join their conference because of their terrible academics.
