If you want to play the "What if" card, I would like to play my wildcard. What if Rich Rodriguez had accepted the Gump gig? Hmmm, just let your imagination run wild with that. Those would have been some fun times for us my friends. Hell, as I can recall they were pretty damn good times to be a Tiger.
I think Miles did one of his best coaching jobs last season. He lost roughly half of his spring starters by the end of the first month of the season, including his Heisman Trophy finalist, an All-American Olineman, and his starting RB, along with starting a very green SEC QB. Even so, we were one horrible one-minute drive away from the SECCG. The chicken bowl debacle is merely an afterthought. No one was excited for the game and then were surprised that our players weren't, either.
You can bet that if Saban, Richt, or Spurrier would have done what Miles did with the losses the team incured, it would have been brought up on ESPN and the national sports media every time their team was mentioned.
Making the most of what they have? That's where recruiting comes in....which Les Miles is great at. By any measure, Les Miles is among the very best in college football.
A better list. Now, of these last group of SEC HC's, look at the resumes and look at Cam Camerons. The SEC schools had to get Bielema, Malzahn and Jones, LSU got Cam, who made the better hire?
So tired of this BS. The media is so far up Saban's arse, and looking for any opporunity to pile on Les. Was flipping channels last night and saw Saban being interviewed on one of the ESPN channels (ESPNU maybe?) -- for what? I didn't even bother to watch. I really hope LSU comes out on a mission this season, much like 2011, and this time finishes what it has started.
ESPN spent the day @Bama yesterday to do a report on their spring practice. ESPN is doing the same thing @LSU today
IMO, it is the recent "trend" they are talking about..............Clemson, Alabama x 2, same mistakes, same excuses for the same mistakes.
