This isn't an exciting pickup, but supposedly Claiborne did great at LSU's camp & he's very versatile. I think he'll either be a big CB or bulk up to safety.

To me, this guy is obviously a play-maker on offense, which is exciting, and the Advocate and Scout.com projected him as a WR. But most agree that we are going to try and make a CB out of him. My question is this: what defensive experience does he have? Does he play both ways in high school? He has shown that he is a star on offense, but has he ever shown that he is a star on defense? Great at tackling, great at coverage, etc?

But yes, I keep hearing that he looked awesome at camp, and I assume that means when we tested him out as a CB at camp that he wowed everybody--that the coaches, the players, and all the spectators were in awe of how awesome this kid is at CB compared to the other guys we've evaluated. Is that true or not? I have no idea, I wasn't there. But I think Miles and company know an awesome recruit when they see one -- heck, I think anybody could recognize an awesome recruit if they got to see what he could do with their own eyes.

I was reading an LSU blog that pointed out the Corey Webster was also a high school QB that we converted to CB.

    From wikipedia:

[In high school, Corey Webster] was an all state quarterback ... He was recruited as a wide receiver coming out of high school but was later asked to play cornerback at LSU by then coach Nick Saban.

Many QBs switch to CB out of HS. Another LSU example is Early Doucet who was a QB in HS.
