Re: Drayton Calhoun commits to LSU I've chatted with a cat from Mississippi who has seen Garret play and he wasn't impressed...
Re: Drayton Calhoun commits to LSU http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/recruiting/tracker/player?recruitId=55016&season=2009 Did he see him in one of the games he concussions in...now I'm not saying he's a 5* of the bat but just don't get down on his signing. Now would I trade him for Broadway now that's a different topic.
Re: Drayton Calhoun commits to LSU He doesn't seem too accurate, but that may be because of all the air he seems to put under the ball...
Re: Drayton Calhoun commits to LSU I think Garret will be good just because of his attitude, I have read several articles on him and he just wants to compete and win. He isnt scared.
Re: Drayton Calhoun commits to LSU Agree but I assume he will be much more a pocket passer than a dual threat, ala Lee (in the same vain that Bradford for OU doesn't scamper but can if he must).
Re: Drayton Calhoun commits to LSU I also know a guy from Mississippi that is very knowledgable about SEC recruiting and he isn't impressed with Garrett -- he also claimed a week or two ago that Garrett would not end up at LSU (which he said would be good for LSU because he's not that great). I know another guy that loves Garrett and posts his stats after every game on an LSU board. I remember reading an article on a Miss State site talking about how Garrett was decommiting from Miss State and committing to LSU, and of the hundreds of user comments, I remember all of them thought very highly of Garrett and were crushed that he decided to go to LSU instead of Miss State (granted, Miss State fans aren't as spoiled as LSU fans). Rivals ranks him as the #16 pro-style QB in the nation. Scout ranks him as the #27 overall QB in the nation. ESPN ranks him as the #26 overall QB in the nation. Compare to Matt Ryan: Rivals ranked Ryan as the #25 overall QB in the nation in 2003 and Scout ranked him as the #44 overall QB in the nation in 2003. Ryan turned out to be the 3rd overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft. I'm not saying Garrett is going to be a first round NFL draft pick like Ryan, but to have three recruiting services agree that you are one of the best 30 QBs in the nation of the thousands of high school senior QBs out there means that you are pretty freaking good. Garrett was an outstanding pick-up by LSU. We have 4-star Lee followed by 4-star JJ followed by 5-star RS -- and we get Garrett to come to LSU in the same class as RS? It's pretty unbelievable. Granted, I won't be surprised if Garrett decides to go to another school that is a lot more desperate for a quality QB, but if Garrett stays at LSU, I'll be impressed and I'll be rooting for the kid to do well, just like I did for Craig Nall (who was an LSU QB that had to back up Booty and Davey -- and all three ended up going in the NFL Draft).
Re: Drayton Calhoun commits to LSU :geaux::crystal::helmet: Could that be due to a case of "sour grapes" due to Garret leaving the state of Mississip? Just askin'. :geauxtige:champs::LSU231:
Re: Drayton Calhoun commits to LSU MSU fans were shocked that he decommitted to come to LSU because his dad is affiliated with the University (maybe he is a director or the alumni association, I cant remember). Garrett is racking up the awards this year in Mississippi and a finalist for a few national awards as well. He is a lock to LSU based on his dad's comments on another board and he has been to most of the LSU games this year. I would say he is the strongest lock we have along with RS. Wait this is a Calhoun thread...
Re: Drayton Calhoun commits to LSU ok, so back to Calhoun getting visited by Peveto. Is he gonna try to sneak him away to Northwestern or wherever the rumor is that he is going to?
