Ok point taken. I am getting just as frustrated with the people trying to get us to stop talking about it as they are with these threads. People need time to vent still. I don't understand how some people don't grasp this.
The funniest thing i've heard since the game. Zapruder film!!! Thank you for that. It's now clear that in the press conference (right after the game) he was actually trying not to throw the booth under the bus by not criticizing them for the spike call. He did not know about the 12 men on the field untill this morning. All he kept saying is that he knew it was not the correct call to make obviously. But when you find out that there was a reason for the booth saying spiking it ( 12 men on field) and the fact that Les didn't know the reason, that's why he looked so uncomfortable cause if he says the booth sent it, it looks like he is throwing blame. Maybe he should have known the reasoning of spiking it, but nevertheless it still would have happened. They thought that was the only option. At the end of the game he just did'nt want to throw blame so he just squirmed and said spiking it was not the thing to do. It also explains the fact that he didn't know who called the spike. He probably knew but kept it to himself. Lastly when you look at the video, given this info, he is clearly signaling down. I'm thankful he's not lying but he is still being portryed as one in the big time media. And remember JJ said it was the booth that said spike it, probably not knowing the info about the 12 men on the field. Maybe Les needs to coach a little more instead of being so demonstrative for things you probably cannot change. Watch the videos again and you will see what I mean. Scott
gentlemen, refer to point#6. I submit to you that that proves that Miles did know that Jefferson was going to clock it, it proves that he thought the 'clock it' play would work, was correct, and would enable a game winning field goal attempt on a subsequent play...
ok here's where i differ. if the above video is what i think it is which is the cst slowed down version of miles mouthing "clock it" and it'd be hard to say he's not saying that, i believe that miles did tell jefferson to clock it but he wasn't lying. bear with me.... miles hears from someone in the booth that there are 12 men on the field let's spike it. the fg doesn't run on in order to take advantage of this and get on after the supposed penalty on ole miss. problem is, whoever it was in the booth, crowton, a G.A. whatever was wrong. miles doesn't know this, but jefferson is being signaled by a g.a. on the field to spike it. that sounds a little weird to him with one second so he looks back to his coach who just reinforces what came down from the booth because there is no time to switch the play now. miles acted on some bad info. but now he's stuck. the game ends. he's interviewed and asked if the call to spike it came from him.... technically it no more came from him than the g.a. who signaled it to JJ. but he still relayed it. i'm sure there's more than one person yapping in miles' headphones. he may have honestly not known where it came from (which he said in his presser today he didn't find out till sunday morning). of course it looks like he's throwing his qb under the bus but actually he's protecting a coach. am i wrong? is this explanation that crazy??? is miles a bad game manager? abso-freaking-lutely. a liar? he hasn't shown a propensity for it since he's been here. so why start now. i give miles the benefit of the doubt when it comes to the "lying" but not how the game was coached.
What if he did know but didn't know the reason why. Remember JJ is getting instructions from booth not Miles. You could call it a brain cramp for not overuling it and getting JJ to run a pass to end zone. But I just think CLM has delegated the offense to Crowton and the booth and allowed them to do what they wanted. Remember CLM had just made a major blunder by not calling the TO, that probably got him shell shock and he allowed the booth to run the show after his mistake. Im sure they were adimant about clocking it. Thus CLM went with it. In retro spect given he din't have the 12 man info how he let them spike it IDK. Obviously things were happening at a rapid pace.
if a penalty had been called on Arky, would the officials have flown or driven to Oxford to mark off the yardage? maybe they would have just placed a phone call opcorn:
I agree but he's also never effed up THIS bad either. The field goal unit WAS told not to go out on the field as in they were stopped. This I KNOW. So, given that info and the fact that there was no second play called from the huddle, what gives? Not saying one way or the other, just wondering and this is not REALLY directed towards you but anyone. I'm trying to make myself believe his story too. :thumb:
