I've always loved McCovey the most, my all-time favorite baseball player. The last Giants game I went to,.. I had front row seats close to 3rd base. Just before the game they had a ceremony at home plate. I watched, then my jaw dropped, there was Willie McCovey in a golf cart heading for the plate, they drove right by me, within 10 feet,.. I was kind of stunned, but as he passed I yelled, "Mac",.. he didn't turn, but he raised his hand, I love to think he heard and waved for me. He was a wonderful kind man with a tremendous heart. Giants fired their GM at the end of the season, hired Farhan Zaidi, Zaidi was the dodgers GM, though their executive structure was such, he was really someone else's top lieutenant, highly respected. He's made a couple of decisions, one is to retain Bruce Bochy and staff, which is good,.. the other decision is to look into trading Madison Bumgarner, that will hurt, but we should get a lot for him. Feels like a new beginning.
