https://www.mlb.com/giants/news/giants-draft-catcher-joey-bart-no-2-overall/c-279779080 Joey Bart, catcher, Georgia State,.. Buster's heir apparent,.. I saw some film, took me five seconds to recognize this guy's a player. I like it, great catchers are more rare than great pitchers The #45 pick, Giants took 6-foot-11 Sean Hjelle, a right-hander from the University of Kentucky who was the Southeastern Conference's Pitcher of the Year as a sophomore in 2017. you guys probably know a lot about the UK guy,.. tell me what a great pick he was
I think a great catcher is more important for that reason. Scarcity. I remember Jason Varitek when he was at GA tech like this fella. The astros drafted him out of high school 1990 but he went to college 4 years and almost won the cws. He had Nomar Garciaparra at ss. Kevin brown was a bit earlier. That was the year they had 101 rounds. Hopefully this fella is as good as him. I've watched Sean hjelle. We 10 run ruled him in the sec tournament last year. But he threw a gem vs us in the regular season. Hes about 7 foot tall. 150 lbs. But has the mechanics of a much shorter guy. Easy delivery. Bodes well for his longevity. Kinda reminds me of Brady singer. He could end up a #3 starter and it wouldn't surprise me at all. He throws strikes.
jebus, 101 rounds, at some point, might as well start picking names out of a hat thanks for sharing your view, how'd Houston do?
Well they drafted a guy who I hadn't noticed til the night before watching Clemson. His last name was beer and we all laughed. Power hitting 1b. Looks pretty good. Wasn't Mike piazza taken in the 62nd rd just bc Lasorda was his godfather. Greatest value pick ever.
yep, then the Dodger fans turned on him, pretty much drove him out of town,.. and into the HOF,.. I'm still laughing. Giants at .500, sitting just 1.5 back, Bumgarner off the DL, pitches tonight,.. I wonder what our magic number is?
