3 months later and Im even more mad. i will add to this thread with each subsequent outing to further the pain as i just read: Jason Hirsh turned in three scoreless innings after relieving Rodrigo Lopez versus the White Sox today. if taveras develops it will be even more painful. if its this year Im gonna shoot myself. it may save me the pain from having to listen to roger clemens' lean of the day. go away.
Damnit all to hell, I was thinking about this trade this morning. At least Pence is knocking the cover off the ball. Of course, he's got another six years before he is 30 and thus eligible to get called up.
After reading this thread I'm pretty excited about the Rockies! Gotta admit they got a really good deal here especially looking back at some of their past trades or free agents that turned out to be busts!
After 2 months, Jennings has been on the DL, rehabbed, is 0-1 for the year, 3.13 era, 23 innings pitched. :dis: Miguel Asencio is 0-3 for AAA Round Rock, 8.04 era, 3 saves. :dis: Hirsh is 2-6 for the Rockies, 4.92 era, 12 starts, 71 innings pitched. Taylor Bucholz is 2-3, 5.55 era, 7 starts, 47 innings pitched. Tavares is batting .325 for the Rockies. Speaking of Jennings, the other nite when he pitched a rehab game in Round Rock, they were auctioning a hat he had signed. I think I'd just as soon wear a dog turd on my head. :nope:
Although he wasn't here long, I didn't see what had been advertised. When they called him up, I thought he'd have the usual rookie struggles. So far, I was really wrong. Will be interesting to see how he finishes. Garner worries about him going full speed all the time, thinks he'll wear himself out before the summer's over. More of 'em oughta go full speed.
as i think i mentioned to you in another thread, there's not really one thing that stands out about him but others who watched him on most levels said he's got a knack for everything, plays hard and enjoys the game. something special about him but you cant quantify it in one statistic. i saw a couple of highlights of him tracking down some balls in cf off pujols' bat that very few if any could get to on that idiotic ramp. he's batting .364, 11 2b, 3 3b, and 5 hrs, 23 rbi already. And 5 SB. his first homer was that walkoff salami i do believe. taken only 5 walks to 22k so no way he can sustain such a high average but he should develop more patience as most young hitters do so he should be near .300 but probably on the lower end.
