The Astros have acquired Jason Jennings and Miguel Asencio from the Rockies for Jason Hirsh, Willy Taveras and Taylor Buchholz, FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal reports. good pitcher but sold 2 future stars and one solid guy was far too much. Dont know who asencio is though. probably worthless. jennings is one year away from free agency! Hirsh will be better than jennings in a couple of years. taveras was never utilized correctly and bucholz is a solid middle relief guy eventually. purpera went from genius to terrible in one year. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/6265388
Wow. Just, wow. Pupura wasn't a genius before, he just never had any guts to make any deals. And now that he finally HAS to, he does this? Wow.
I. Hate. This. Trade. Hate hate hate hate hate. It makes no sense. Looking at Jennings numbers, he resembles a #3 pitcher. I know he was at Coors Canaveral, but that makes it even more suspect. The league has a ton of pitchers who people thought were better than they were, just because of pitching there. And giving up Hirsh, Buccholz, and Willy T? COME ON. This is horrible. Hirsh -- the #1 prospect. I know he's just a prospect, but that's the point. Teams are built with prospects, not all proven commodities. Buccholz -- He had games last year that looked like a #2 level pitcher. Near no hitters. He was inconsistent, but that's going to happen to a young pitcher, one year removed from shoulder surgery. Willy T -- Good heavens, I hate losing this guy. First, fielding. He can cover space (which is critical, with sedentary objects in RF and LF with Luke Scott and Fat Lee.) He's got a cannon of an arm. Batting -- people like to badmouth his batting, but forget that he's been in the league TWO YEARS. And it was a year too soon, necessitated after losing Beltran. A thirty game hit streak last year shows that he's got some promise there too. And the cherry on top, is this is a one year rental. Even if they sign him, it's still a one year rental, because they could have signed him as a free agent anyway. I. Hate. This. Trade. At this point, I can only hope that Clemens goes to the Yankees and resurrects the glory of my first love.
Noooooooooooooooooooooo. Say no to the evil empire. :hihi: Ya gotta wonder what Roger's thinking this time of year. Gonna be interesting to see how much it will take to get 3 months' pitching from him.
I've probably talked with 30 astros fans this week and have yet to find one who likes this trade. But what the hell do the fans know ?:dis:
