Myers is going back to the starting rotation.

Lidge was not traded to be the setup man for Flash Gordon.

at first glance I hated the trade. mostly because im a huge lidge fan and his talent is other-worldly. however, his tendency to give up the longball in crucial situations has never been solved. he still needs to trust his fastball and thats a mental hurdle he doesnt seem to overcome when its crunch time.

add to that, Id say the absolute worst place of all 30 teams is not coors, its citizens bank ballpark. way worse than minute maid. this is not the park his therapist would have recommended during recovery. I feel sorry for the guy actually.

i liked this bruntlett kid but he's trade bait and was expendable.

regarding bourn, he may be the fastest guy in mlb. when i heard who was involved I immediately thought the astros were trying to recover for the taveras blunder just as the article stated above and i think its quite obvious thats what happened.

I agree with clair that they should have raped someone at the trade deadline if that was their m.o. but with a new GM they have to start somewhere.

geoff geary is decent, nothing special and I have no idea who george costanza's brother is.

basically this is lidge for bourn and I dont really like it from the astros vantage point because he may just end up a bench player.

I would have preferred I dunno, torii hunter.

    Tirk,

The first 2 paragraphs were pasted off CNNSI's article on the trade.
The paragraph above from the original post was my opinion, not from the article. Thought I had posted correctly but, well, dang.

Yea, except I'm not sure that Bruntlett has multiple championship rings and a WS MVP... And he gets paid about 10% what Eck does, plays less, hits 60 points lower, has a slug% about 100 points lower, and pretty much sucks.

Every MLB post with you guys bashes Eck at some point.

Hell, does anybody on the astros roster have a WS ring? Maybe Palmeiro does with the Angels... Any others?

yeah, i realized that but for some reason thought the taveras opinion was at the beginning when i skimmed over it. my attention span isnt always very good.

i agree eckstein is a douchebag. mainly because he couldnt even keep the vette he won as an MVP award because he couldnt drive a stick. well, at least not that kind.

    freakin gayter.

Man, you're like Crawfish is with D-Wade and Shaq, except neither of them are total douchebags.

Nah, I've just got a spot in my heart for tiny dudes whose relatives have poor kidneys.

I think the 'Stros are fine with Wigginton at 3B for now. This Costanzo kid may develop into a good replacement, as Wigginton is signed through either '09 or 2010, I think.

You're right that he starting pitching will likely be a problem though.

I'm curious what they'll do at 2B. I really like Burke, but the guy has to start consistently producing at some point.
That's good to hear. Hopefully he's a little more instinctive on the basepaths than Taveras, though that's barely consolation for the Taveras/Jennings debacle.
Yea, dream on. No way were they going to have Carlos Lee and Torii Hunter in the same outfield making about $30M.

Good to hear Wigginton is signed that long. I think he fits what we need at 3B. He will produce enough hitting in the 5/6 spot.
