Agreed. I just wish there was a way that we could add Larry Porter back to the staff since he was let go at Memphis. As good of a recruiter that Wilson is, Porter might be better...much better. Having both on the staff just might not be fair.

No way that he would be better than Wilson, but would be good choice if we need to add someone. We have a great staff right now and hopefully Les can keep it together.
Joe Rob left and we get a coach out of the Pros. Crowton left and Les gets one of the better QB coaches in the nation. When you have a stable program like LSU, the resumes will hit and hit and hit. Too many good coaches want in a stable program.
I respectfully disagree. They are both great recruiters. Both have won Rival's "Recruiter of the Year". Wilson won it once (last year) and Porter won it twice (2007 & 2009). Porter also has a huge recruiting resume when he was on Miles' staff at Oklahoma State. While at LSU, he was also 'Assistant Head Coach' and under his tutelage, LSU running backs averaged 165 yards per game including averaging 214 yards per game in 2007 (we were ranked 11th nationally in rushing that year). I like Wilson and I don't think Les Miles would ever consider moving him aside for Porter (nor should he). My point is that I wish there was a way we could add Porter to the staff somehow. If Wilson did leave, Porter would be a no brainer.
Joe Judge, Football Analyst at bama looks to be taking a job at So. Miss. Joe will be the special teams coordinator and tight ends coach. So. Miss. is putting together a nice staff.
I would rate Frank Wilson a better recruiter than Larry Porter. Porter's from Jackson and has been at it in college since 1998. He joined Les' OSU staff in 2002 and spent 7 years with Miles developing a relationship with him and learning what it took to be a great recruiter. Larry knew exactly what Miles' message was and how to deliver it given their time together. He hasn't been as successful in recruiting without Les Miles. Frank is very different. He grew up in New Orleans and went to college in the state at Nicholls. Frank was a very successful Louisiana high school coach before joining the college football fray in 2005 at Ole Miss with Orgeron. They brought a lot of talent to Oxford that we now see given Nutt no longer has those recruits there. He jumped for a year to Southern Miss then with Kiffin and Orgeron for a season at Tennessee before coming home. So in the short time he's been in college as a coach and recruiter he's pulled some major talent to various places. Anthony 'Freak' Johnson was a Tennessee commit when Wilson was there for example. I believe he helped land DeAndre Brown at Southern Miss as well? I could be wrong on that one. Frank's got very strong ties to this state and in particular the New Orleans area. Wilson's high school coaching experience here gives him a lot of great connections as well as understanding every side of recruiting from being the high school coach mentoring kids about to go and what they go through in the process to being the guy sitting down in the living room on the couch talking to the parents and kid. He's a dynamic personality and he's proven himself quite exceptional in a short period of time with a variety of very good recruiters. Frank will be a success wherever he goes. I've heard he's really thrilled to be back home, though. I certainly think LSU needs to keep it that way.
my thoughts exactly. money talks, bulls--t walks. from all i hear clm is good to work for, so i'd seriously doubt whether it could be related to working relationships. if they're not looking for a head coaching position or not HC material, it has to be about $. I'd be more concerned with offensive coordinators leaving because that's where CLM is more proficient.
