Ask Not What Your Country Can Do For You speech

    I pay my taxes. I'm sure you do, too. I also put what I feel is a generous amount in the Sunday collection basket, and make other donations as I see fit. Once again, I'm sure you do too.

    My question is...if paying money or taxes is your definition of "what you can do for your country", then what do those we're helping with our taxes and donations do to help? Aren't they obligated to help as well?

    Yes, and Yes!!! I am all for having my taxes raised a little to help this country out, as long as that money goes to people who need help, who are doing everything they can to make it, and contribute as well. I think unless you are unable to physically work, or mentally work, and that has been determined by 2 different physicians, then you should be doing community service, or something to get unemployment, food stamps, or welfare.
