Asher Allen Top 2 for Talented Georgia Athlete? Asher Allen not ashter as in my heading. Ht: 5-10 Wt: 180 40: 4.45 Position: RB, CB Projected as: CB, RB Class: 2006 Senior High School: Tucker HS (Tucker, GA) By Scott Kennedy Scout.com - South Date: Jun 24, 2005 Asher Allen is one of the most heavily recruited athletes in the south this year. The Corner is a member of the South Hot 100, and he updates us on his favorites, including two teams that look to have a lead. Allen has had the chance to visit two of the schools that are on his list, and they made a big impression on him. "LSU made a big impression on me. I went up there early June, I've formed a relationship with Coach Peveto. I talked with him and Coach Miles. You fall in love instantly with the facilities there. You can ask Morrice (Cousin Morrice Richardson). We went together. It was all just really really good when we went there. We talked with some from of the players. I got to talk with Chevis (Chevis Jackson) and Early Doucet. I know they're doing a good thing, because they had the #1 quarterback there (Ryan Perrilloux) and the #1 wide receiver there (Doucet). They're definitely going in the right direction." LSU isn't the only team that Allen has seen, and the Bayou Bengals will have a battle on their hands from everyone, most notably the home state Georgia Bulldogs. "I've been to Georgia too, and I talked with Coach Richt. I have a good relationship with him. I've known him for a while. Every where you go you see Georgia. Everyone loves Georgia, but I don't want to go to school, because of what everyone else does, but do I like Georgia." LSU and Georgia are in the lead, but Allen isn't ready to call it a two team race. "Those are the only schools I've really been to. So right now Georgia and LSU are my two favorites, because those are the only two schools I've been to. I'll be looking at SEC and ACC schools. I'm going to stay in that Louisiana on over southeast area. I don't want to go too far away from home. You can't go wrong going SEC or ACC." Who are some of the other schools that Allen could visit soon for a look? "I'd want to go see Florida and Auburn, I would like to see Clemson. I know Coach Burns. I've gotten a chance to talk with him a lot. I may like Tennessee too. I can tell you that Georgia and LSU will probably get an official, and I'm trying to find my other three." Another factor in Allen's recruitment could be family ties. Morrice Richardson and Allen are cousins, and both players are being heavily recruited. Will they end up together? "We really want to play together, but I don't want him to go to a school that I want to go to and have his career go down, because there's a lot of players at his position. We'll do what's best for us. We'd love to play together, but we're adults, and I don't want to mess up his future or go to a school that doesn't have a need for me. If it doesn't help both of us then it wouldn't be good." http://georgia.scout.com/2/390321.html Biography: A standout on both sides of the ball, Allen plays running back, receiver, safety and corner for his Tiger team. He is also a standout in track in which he competes in the 100M, 200M, and the 4x100M. As a junior, Allen helped lead his team to a 12-1 record by rushing for over 800 yards and nine touchdowns. He added 80 tackles and two interceptions on defense. He also returned two punts for touchdowns. Allen reports a 3.4 GPA/1400 SAT (new version)--no retest. Allen: "I'm an electrifying kind of player. I'm good at just seeing things on the field before they happen, and I'm also very explosive on offense. On defense, I'm a solid tackler and I just love the challenge of covering wide receivers. "Basically, I'm looking to get bigger, faster and stronger. I'd like to be better at jumping. My vertical is 33"." Scout Report: A quick running back that also excels at his corner position. He has the size and the athleticism to play on either side of the ball on the next level.
I agree. Saban went after Josh Johnson real hard and lost him. Now he's kicked out of Georgia, I wonder if he will contact LSU to try and get in? And would Miles give him a chance?
He isn't kicked out. He was sent to Hargrove, ala Odell Thurman, and will return once he is done a year.
