LSU pays its assistants more than any other university. I'd have to do some research and maybe @bhelmLSU could help on this one a little but it would be neat to know how much money LSU spends on recruiting and recruiting services, facilities, and everything except salaries compared to Alabama.
It's been said recently that the facilities at LSU are not as good as several programs within the SEC. They've been described as old and dated compared to those at rkansas, bama, aTm, and auburns. As for the LSU assistants pay, guess we haven't gotten our money's worth. I've said for a few years that the play on the field wasn't indicative of what we've been paying our coaches minus the DC's.
If Eaux gets the job, I hope one of his actions is to evaluate all assistants and make deep cuts; make sure you eliminate the rot and field a staff that will put the program in the best position to succeed. I'd hope we could sign Eaux for something of a bargain and pay top dollar to surround him with the best in the bidness. Contingent on a successful closeout to the season. In the meantime, JJ turns the basketball team around now that the sideshow is gone.
I think Ed knows that he's no OC. Watching his press conferences the last couple days, he doesn't sound overly impressed by the job Ensminger and Grimes did this week. i think those two are gone regardless, hopefully Peveto Too. I don't believe O would hire a 3 yards and a cloud of dust OC. He said he believes that the spread is the trend and that its here to stay. He sure sounds like he gets it. And he says it straight forward and to the point. You don't need a tard to Enlish dictionary translate it.
I don't think that's it. We have athletic specimens that prove the theory otherwise. I believe it's technique. There is a lack of explosiveness off the snap and the technique to contain. It's the style of oline that played... when Miles played. I also believe they practice light to avoid injury. Grimes sucks after having the opportunity to improve and did not. He's done, but we need to hold out for another couple of cycles to see improvement. So we need a different game plan entirely to make it through.
The one thing no one has really addressed or at least I haven't seen it is what becomes of the staff? All bets are off with a new coach. If it's Herman then I think Aranda is safe, would O stay on after the interim tag? Shaky right? Ensminger = gone BDP =gone Raymond = 50/50 but probably gone Grimes = have to lean to gone who else is there? No names jumping out that say "keep me on" Very possible we lose Aranda if it isn't Herman or O
You lose aranda in a year to a HC position elsewhere. Do you offer him or end up regretting it. do you take a chance he's the next Saban on defense or is it too big of a risk. I'd be a shitty AD bc I'd take a lot of risks.
I think we are in a better position to take a chance and structure a contract as such. We can haul in 3 more wins, I'm certain of it withstanding a competative loss. So give big man the keys on a 2 year lease with options after shaping progressive growth? Keep Aranda and let him compete for the spot when the lease is up and/ or allow someone else do the same. I think we are in a better position to take a chance now than we are trying for a home run hire. Solid plan B at best if we can't haul in a stud.
pretty good article on Herman http://www.andthevalleyshook.com/2016/11/8/13564970/lsu-head-coaching-search-tom-herman
Here is what I find interesting, I think you have to give Aranda a serious look. Skip could have just hired Jimbo, and he would probably still be here with multiple national championships, LSU didn't even think about looking in its own backyard then, maybe they should now.
