if i have to explain the motivational difference once again, I guess you'll never get it. one team was disappointed after going 12-0 --then losing --so their hopes of playing in a NC game were crushed. they were then relegated to playing UTAH as a consolation prize. While Utah was playing for a possible NC. its simple. I said it before the game so this isnt hindsight. happens all the time in bowls yet joefan cant grasp it. thats why vegas keeps putting out those lines on these games with a smile. you cant really compare the two nor should they get a piece of the NC. they didnt play in a NC game.
There must be some solution as to which team is the true national champion. How on earth can we solve the problem we all face every year on who should play and be the official champions?
Hmm.. I guess that's why this Tiger team folded their tent after finishing the year like they did.. wait? No, Miles had the team ready to play for a Chick-Fil-A bowl game. And oh yeah, 2005, LSU gets blown out by Georgia in the SECCG. Matt Flynn comes in and the Tigers destroy Miami in the Chick-Fil-A bowl.. Miles should have folded his tent and said well guys, no championship this year so let's go embaress ourselves! Bama has not done crap since the 90's and now they are disappointed they didn't win the NC in Saban's first "real" season? Haha.. even we aren't that spoiled. Look bra, I live in Bama and these fans were pumped about the Sugar Bowl. They loved the chance of playing for a BCS bowl and getting back into the national picture.. They were just as pumped for it than they were for the SECCG. Saban better figure out real quick that there are other major bowl games than just the "BCS" National Championship.
It wouldn't matter if Nick Saban was playing for a national championship or not because he realizes that he's winning with Mike Shula's players anyway. :thumb: His championship won't count.
you dont have to believe it if you dont want to. its my belief and it may well be wrong. LSU's NC hopes were done long ago. almost at the beginning of the season. there was never any true belief this was going to happen once we saw the product on the field. bama never expected it until it was a legit possibility after going 12-0. then lost to UF late in the fourth qtr. all hopes and dreams of another MNC in gumpland were dashed. so in return, they get MWC champ-UTAH. Not USC, Not Oklahoma. thats like thinking you're going out with jessica biel and it turns out to be sarah jessica parker. you cant lie to yourself or drink enough to get yourself excited. each season is relative. they were disappointed how it ended even though it was much better than anyone expected. fans dont play the game. I was more excited for the bama game than the bama players. or so it seemd by the looks on their faces and their play. certainly this workman like attitude (saban, tressel) can bite saban's teams in the ass at times. when you're unexcited as a coach, it trickles down to the team. even if you try to use all the gimmicky newspaper headlines like he did. and I believe player's coaches (miles, carroll) perform better in bowl games because their players are more emotionally up and less business like.
I agree. 3rd seems about right. IMO, at the least the BCS peeps should give "Utah" membership into the BCS now that they have proved they can make it to the dance over the last few years going undefeated and Winning the bowl. Is this possible?
If USC is ranked ahead of Utah, it will only confirm what we already know. NO ONE steals USC's thunder. Wanna bet who's pre-season #1 even if Tebow returns?
