LSU wants QB to take more risks | thenewsstar.com | The News Star While I get the reasoning for the plan last season, you would think after the UF game last year that they would have adjusted that philosophy. Glad BG is there to help the aggressiveness, and hopefully bring some innovation.
Good read, thanks. It's clear that the coaching staff has been reading Tiger Forums, and have finally heeded our advice!:thumb:
We shall see I guess. I am more worried about 3rd downs on defense this year. That to me was as frustrating as the Options to the short side of the field and the incessant sacks. The constant 3rd and longs the defense gave up. What did we call it. 3rd and Chavis or something. I am cautiously optimistic myself because I look at all our opponents this year and all of them aside from Ole Miss and maybe UF have a stronger team. Bama will be about the same. So we not only have to get appreciably better, but the road is much more difficult this year.
i am probably reading entirely too much into that statement, but i can't be the only one who is disgusted with it. really? it takes an entire season to realize what JJ's strengths and weaknesses are? i'm sure most could tell you what they were by the miss state game. i hate to be the negatiger here, but that astounds me. the coaches should have had at least somewhat of an idea before the season even started. but, that's in the past, and i'm just glad to see that everyone involved (coaches, players) is at least talking a good game at this point. we'll see pretty soon how it translates on the field. for the record i think the offense will be impressive this season. edit: geaux figure that my 6,000th post would be continued bashing of GC.
You're not, and after reading the article I also find it incredible that an OC of a major college program is basically saying that he treated 2009 like a throw-away season. And I agree, by Florida you know what you got and what is/isn't working. 2009 wasn't like "Any Given Sunday" where your 1st and 2nd string QBs go down and you suddenly have to go with an unknown guy for a long stretch of time. Maybe then that kind of ultra-conservative approach is warranted, but not here. Crowton had an entire off-season after the Chick-Fil-A Bowl to start sorting those things out. That degree of timidity has no place on a football field, and certainly not at LSU.
