Enjoyed the read. This is at least a somewhat biased article, but the writer admits it. The differences in these two coaches could not more different in their personalities and character and that translates to their coaching styles.
    I'm a Les Miles guy.

Also enjoyed the article. It may also provide a window into the media's Saban love. Saban is quantifiable and his process oriented approach easy to measure. He is what sports writers envision a great general is in the military. Just see how the article described Nicky as an automaton moving gears and cogs in a system.
Les's quirky and feel based means of operating is too hard for them to evaluate. Remember many LSU fans have had a hard time wrapping their arms around Les. Don't let this obscure the hard work and thought and focus Les brings and demands. He is a whole man and coach one who knows where and how to balance process and feeling.
Over time as Les continues to beat the Sabans of the world they will necer understand but give grudging respect.
We have a jewel and let's treasure what we have and laugh at those who do not see. :miles:

Really enjoyed this. Reinforces to me that CLM is a down-to-earth, good person, and that Saban is just an SOB.

I still wonder whether Saban's pedal-to-the-medal, full speed ahead at all times mentality is sustainable at a single program over a long period of time. It's phenomenal at turning mediocre programs into great ones in the short term, but what about keeping it there 8-10+ years out?

I've heard Gordy and Hanagriff refer to it before as the Saban Effect. That always-on intensity simply wears people out, all the way from AD officials to assistants to players over time. He can convince guys to run through a brick wall for that first championship, but what do you do for an encore? Especially if/when he loses a lot of veteran leadership and is left with a young team.

Great read!!! Saban is a military General that controls his troops and lays out a methodical plan of attack and does great when everything goes as he has drawn out. Les on the other hand is a MARINE that says you know what we have trained hard and no matter what happens we will band together as brothers and have fun kickin their ass!:tigereye: YES I AM A LES MAN!!!!!!!!! read this a few days ago, and it reminded me how clm believes these young men can have fun playing the game of football. i dont believe this attitude takes away anything. there is no lack of practice or preparation, but just a different mindset. he understands these guys are not robots, but young men.

    a great read.

as the article says... "i'm rolling with les".

He describes Les Miles as if he's the master of drunken punch martial arts. :)
