Every team in Fla has made a run over the years, too much talent to go around. Not only Miami, Fla and Fla St, but look at the FI, USF, FA at time even those teams get a few player every year. Like I said, too much talent. Les has done a good job over the years dipping into Fla for some talent.
It's never been about the lack of recruiting for any of those 3 teams. Top 10 every year for the last 25 years. It's coaching. When you bet on the wrong horse (Zook, Muschamp), you pay the consequences. When you hit the lottery (Meyer), count your blessings. Same level of talent for all 3 of those coaches in the past dozen years. Much different results.
When I was at the UGA game this year, I asked every UGA fan I could (at restaurants, tailgating, in the stands) whether Richt was on a hotseat at all, and everybody's answer was the same, "No, he runs a great program, is a great guy, his job is safe" no matter what happened against LSU that day. That was my unscientific poll and pulse. I hope it's true b/c I agree w/that. Outsiders looking in seem more frustrated w/Richt that the fanbase I talked with.
Muschamp needs to upgrade OC. He hired Weiss right off the bat, and eveyone was like "wow, he's surrounding himself w/great coordinators", then Weiss F'd him. They are paying for that this year. Having said that, if Charlie Strong is willing to return to UF, they may make that move.
USC coaching search: Lovie Smith interviewed; Sarkisian on radar http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/writer...bears-coach-lovie-smith-for-head-coaching-job Time to start thread on job openings?
What's true is that UGA hasn't won a national championship in my lifetime. When most people get a taste of penthouse living, they don't want to go back to living in momma's basement.
Sarkisian is the answer. He was the answer 3 years ago. Lovie Smith is a buffoon ("We are 10-2, Rex Grossman is still my Quarterback").
When Lane Loser was canned, I figured that Sarkisian would get the nod. He'd fit in well at USC (again) and likely make them quite competitive (again).
He would definitely have the offense humming. Who he picks as his DC will determine if USC becomes a national power once again.
