Like I said...... Jack Del Rio to fill in for John Fox http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/9925184/denver-broncos-tab-jack-del-rio-interim-coach
I wondered about when comparisons would come in... Here's one of the reasons I don't believe the two are comparable. A lot of the games lost under Zook came in 4th quarter melt-downs. A bigger contributor, as I see it, was the point Zook had lost more games at home in his short tenure than Spurrier had in his 12 year career in Gainesville. Right now Muschamp has lost two of 17 home games (if my math is correct.) One thing a little off topic: I see this as just one more indicator how these "finesse" type approaches can severely hurt a program after the coach who employed those schemes leaves—especially in the SEC. (Petrino to Bielema, Chizik from Gus to Loeffler, Muschamp off of Meyer's talent.) For a team to return to a smash mouth type of approach takes several years to come to fruition.
But he has lost to Georgia all 3 years. And there is the dagger for any coach. You can't lose that game 3 years in a row. Especially when you have recruited as well as he has.
I'm aware. I made a comment the other day wondering if Georgia to Muschamp is akin to what Auburn was to Bill Curry.
Yep. You can fuck up a lot of things, but if you win that game, a lot is forgiven. We were talking about forgiving Les Miles for Ole Miss if we beat Bama. That's how it works.
It's the Florida State and Miami Factor we are missing here. Florida is getting most of the best players out the sunshine state. Florida State is and Miami is getting some really good ones as well. Florida isn't the king of their own state anymore.
Florida has finished higher than both Miami and FSU the last 2 recruiting seasons. By an average of nearly 5 spots. Recruiting has not been an issue. Muschamp receives an A grade in that area.
