"I think most of the guys are friends with him," said designated hitter Blake Dean, who hit a two-run home run off Forrest for a 7-1 lead in the sixth. "I'm friends with him. I got to know him my freshman year. I talked to him for a little bit after we played at Arkansas in the regular season.

"T.J.'s just a goofy guy. He's got a big LSU tattoo on his back, so I don't know how much of an enemy he is of us. The tattoo looks like a cartoon. It's a big tiger in flames on his back. He's just a goofy guy."

Interesting read. I didn't know much about Forrest at LSU.

MAINIERI BITTER?: Mainieri had high hopes for Forrest and projected him as a SEC starter in the 2008 season. But Forrest transferred to Bossier Parish Community College after the 2007 season with hopes of getting drafted. Junior college players can get drafted after one season. Had he stayed at LSU, he would not have been eligible for the draft until this year.

Forrest went 9-2 with an ERA under 1.00 at Bossier in 2008, and Pittsburgh did draft him in the 32nd round. But he decided to transfer to Arkansas for the 2009 season. Forrest is 2-6 this season, including a 5-0 loss to Coleman and LSU on May 2, with a 5.56 ERA.

Asked about playing against Forrest for the second time on Tuesday, Mainieri said, "I tried to ignore the fact of who it was. I'm not real happy about the fact that he left us two years ago. I really don't want to talk about it."
