I realize this is not about LSU but am hoping it is ok to start another Arkansas thread since I find this amazing.... Red team beat the White team 65-0 this past weekend. My questions... 1. What idiot coach would stack the teams so blatantly towards one side? 2. Is it good offense by Red or bad defenses by the White team? 3. Does this prove that the Hogs will be in the NC hunt this year? 4. If you are a Hog fan, how many wins do you hope for this year? Does 8 wins give the interim coach a contract? I mean, on top of winning the spring game.
Take this from someone who lives and works right smack dab in the middle of them and a bunch of damn sooner bandwagoners. They're expecting a national championship, just like last year, but just like last year, they'll end up disappointed, again. Yeah, put all your starters against all your B and C teamers. Gotta get the fanbase fired up and sell out those season tickets amid all the turmoil and controversy surrounding the program. Have to show continuity. Still gonna be the same old same old pigs, however.
I am looking for good things from this offense next year, however I still see two losses on teh schedule. bet you can't guess what two. leblanc you are listening to the radio too much around here, not everyone thinks we will win a NC I think we could, but it all depends on who the next coach will be. Regardless i still see two losses. 10-2 probably in the cotton bowl again
new Arkansas coach is John L. Smith , former special teams coach at Arky and current HC at Weber State ...... good luck with holding it to just two losses. His contract is already approved by the Foundation, and there's a 3pm Presser scheduled to formally announce him today linky: http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-footba...john-l-smith-arkansas-football-coach-next-new
yeah i heard this about 2 minutes after posting my last comment, i don't know what to think about it honestly, was hoping for something bigger, i think i might have rather had fulmer as much as he disgusts me. as long as we can keep Paul petrino and taver johnson on staff we should still be fine, next year anyway.
Just an opinion, but I suspect John L is being brought in to oversee the program through next season, at which point a permanent coach will be brought in to lead the next growth phase. Smart decision since it will allow UA to conduct an extended search process while keeping Hawg fans criticisms to a minimum during the interim. Smith is highly loyal to UA, much the same way that Shula was with alabama. Dunno how much recruiting efforts will slip, but the worst of the damge appears to be passed.
Looks like a way to keep some continuity so they don't have to install and try to teach those guys a brand new scheme. They needed someone familiar, especially this close to the season.
Apparently he is far more loyal to Arkansas than to Weber State where he played and then got his break into the coaching business. One must always remember that the head coach of any major college is a salesman in some form or fashion.
