Well, they finally got even with us. In the 66 Cotton Bowl, a 10-0 Razorback team, #2 in the nation, faced a huge underdog 7-3 Tiger squad. There was talk that the Tigers were not a "worthy" opponent in the Cotton Bowl. Tigers won 14-7, ending any hope Arkansas had of winning the MNC. Yesterday, they returned the favor. That's for us old timers, a trip down memory lane... I remember it well! Pat Screen, Doug Moreau, Don Schwab, and Joe Labruzzo (who scored both TD's). Tiger defense played a whale of a game.
For some years after that game, I remember seeing license plates and bumper stickers bearing the score. The pigs grieved over that one for a long time.
That was a great time - when the SEC and the SWC were really rolling and there were some fine rivalries in both conferences. Who'd have thought that Arkansas would beat us with the Wishbone this year, speaking of memories! ldskule:
I was thinking of that very thing at the end of the game. I remember that game. I was in Air Force Tech School at Amarillo at the time. LSU played a perfect game that day.
My Dad had a license plate, in purple and gold with the score of the game, on our 63 Galaxie 500, was sold with the car in 1970.
