I have observed over the years that Arkansas is an inexplicably LUCKY team. However, they create a lot of that "luck." So, if the game is close late in the fourth, we can't rest. Some REALLY flukie play will go their way. It borders on the bizarre how many times weird "I can't believe that just happened" plays go their way. Just an observation.
I find that teams that play to win often win games that they probably shouldn't and teams that play not to lose often lose games that they probably shouldn't.
You don't think faking a field goal where the ball bounces straight up to the kicker who is running isn't lucky? What about the kicker bobbling the ball all way to the endzone? Or making 5 4th downs in 1 game?
Not that it matters at all, but I personally finally turned the page to Arkansas last night when the first major college game of the week came on. I'm kinda over the Bama loss....for now. All I care about now is improving and winning as many as possible for the rest of the season, starting with Arkansas. I would be pretty damn happy if we could win out. That would be a strong season imo. Not all I hoped for by really good considering. I just hope the team turned the page several days ago.
Those plays you mention do have to do with luck. However, I mean plays like that throwback first down play in this past game against Ole Miss. There is no way that was even remotely planned. The tight end did a good job of finding clump of Ark players behind him. There was a defender there that just missed. It's like the difference between a Michael Jordan shot bouncing exactly right off the rim and a shot that careens off the refs head and bounces in right in front of a defender. It's just uncanny. Anyway, just throwing it out there. As I said, Ark seems to get there fair share of these kinds of plays from us.
he said that teams that play balls out usually create their luck. lying down and taking it is not conducive to winning. or things going your way. just like when les used to and the ball bounced on the fg and a few others. les' horseshoe hasnt been near as effective since les went into his shell. so i tend to agree.
