ed had no business mentioning that in the way he did. he should have said he was dealing with some medical issues and left it at that.... whoever is in charge of pr at lsu is failing badly... edited to add: ed effectively ended gilbert's lsu career with that. no way gilbert was going to stay after fomer players got involved, tweeting their disdain for Gilbert.... this was avoidable. yet another unforced error
This one only makes sense if Gilbert's not planning on coming back. There is no way he opts out with 2 games to go if he has any intention of coming back. As to why he's leaving, I think it's clear that there are things going on right now off the field that is gonna get even uglier during the offseason. None of these guys want to be around when that axe drops.....
Ehh, I understand that sentiment, but O is just being honest. If the kid is weak, the kid is weak; O didn’t seem to mention it in an effort to alienate him in my opinion. If Gilbert is embarrassed about it, then maybe he shouldn’t act on that reason.
ed is the face of a multi million dollar enterprise and has to know better than that.... o wasn't being honest, he threw gilbert under the bus....
That’s a plausible explanation, but I didn’t interpret his comment that way. I don’t think O would ever throw a current player under the bus.
We have room for Gilbert. Rumors swirling could leave you guys as low as 45 players on scholarship. I hate it for you guys.
Scott Long's column today is a must read. Not only does he offer excellent insight into the Gilbert situation his other topics are on point.
I am sick of all the opt-out crap! Quitters quit, that’s what they do. If he was hurting he could have stayed with the team and just asked Oeaux to hold him out for medical reasons. I feel that only Neil Farrell (family covid issues) and Kary Vincent (already graduated) had acceptable excuses. As for the guys who opted out to prepare for the combine. What a piece if horse shit. Goodby and good luck but don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out. If they don't want to be a part a part of the team, don’t expect to welcomed back with open arms. Pro day, you quit you are not invited. Work out for the nfl on your own dime.
