I find opting out to be considerably less concerning than transferring, which were the initial rumors.
Agreed, but...."my body is aching?" What football player's body doesn't ache 8 games into the season? Suck it up, kid!
I took it more as a mental health comment (at least I hope) in the context of his homesickness. Either way, it’s probably a bit weak.
TBTrumpet's post says it all, see below. Welcome to the new America. Biden and his Orcs will have us playing flag football coed at that. In fifty years we will all be chicks. Apparently 121 players across the nation have entered the transfer portal over the last 8 days. This is going to be the trend in the years to come. When a team isn’t doing well, players are going to leave before the season ends. Welcome to the new normal. TBTrumpet, Today at 10:56 AMReport #56Like+ QuoteReply
Not taking away from that statement, it has become the landscape, but if you are gonna manage champion football, the key is to breaking the trend and keeping your blue chips in house. Dangerous landscape is allowing your blue chips to go to your competition with a green light to play without waiting. Gilbert is not going anywhere, at the moment, but keeping him here is ideal and coaching him up to be the SEC monster his potential shows is even more ideal. We are not doing very ideal things at the moment. This I'm sure you have noticed.
When Jacob Hester calls you out for being a pussy, you know you’ve been a pussy. All the old players were calling Gilbert out.
And here it is... Gilbert is officially opting out: #LSU Coach O says freshman tight end Arik Gilbert has opted out on the remainder of the 2020 season. https://twitter.com/JacquesDoucet/status/1336705467020611586?s=20
