T-Bob Hebert is Bobby Hebert's son and he was on the Oline at LSU, played on the 2011 team..... these former players all have contacts, people around the facility, around the program, they gather info from. they are certainly getting more info than we are.... how good it is isn't known until after the fact....
Interesting article from 247 Sports suggesting that Gilbert’s departure may not as popular with the team as feared. From Derek Stingley’s father says he’s seen as a quitter. https://deathvalleyvoice.com/2020/1...ews&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=apple-news
Good thing Derek Stingley's Father is not part of the team. Shows very poor character by Stingley Sr., calling a teamate of his son a quitter. And considering Derek's subpar & toasty season, he doesn't have room to say much. Of course O will say will say nothing to "SUPERDAD" Is Stingley Sr. coaching LSU now? "Orgeron said this week that he’d welcome Gilbert back next season if he opted out of the rest of 2020 and chose to remain in Baton Rouge. I think that’s the right move. But Stingley Sr’s comments certainly make me wonder how Gilbert would be welcomed back in the locker room."
I’ve seen it mentioned without confirmation or trustworthy sourcing that Gilbert recently was admitted to the hospital before he left the team. Can’t confirm, but that would develop some sympathy.
Where a coach having to kiss players’ ass on an issue as bullshit as BLM I’m not sure if the Price of Victory hasn’t become too high
We’re seeing the effects of a new breed of athlete. The ‘Yes sir , coach’ days are gone. These recruits today are self absorbed coddled spoiled mercenary assholes looking to see what a college can do for them. The concept of team is as foreign to them as pride, responsibility and commitment. The same thing happened to our Olympic athletes. At one time they were heroes . Today most of them are whiners looking to cash in on brief success and celebrity
I don’t understand calling this kid names if he wishes to quit. I say good luck to him and I hope he gets his issues resolved. No one and I mean no one but the Almighty knows the demons we carry so we should not bully those who do not see things our way. This kid may have some emotional, mental, or physical issues going on and we should support his decision to care for them. As far as other parents they should keep there mouth shut about other kids. God forbid we call Jr. names then Sr. would be out there with (insert social cause here) claiming we have no right to come down on his son. Ok rant over!
I hear you and tis the season of compassion. However not to speak for all my fellow tribesman in this hallowed cove, but I believe for the most part the negative comments are not directed so much at young Mr Gilbert as it is addressing what has become an all too familiar theme in today’s society among our athletes, our students and our younger generation - ‘I’m not happy. Where’s the Reset button ?’ There is a complete lack of mental toughness among young people today and a culture that condones the idea that every setback as dire crisis is only enabling this wounded bird persona held by certainly every young person I know. Perhaps Gilbert doesn’t deserve the direct slings and arrows , but fairly or not , he’s the latest of a long list of targets receiving the frustrated venom.
I hear ya, we have become a society that can’t navigate their way thru difficult times so I agree with everyone in that regard. I just hate bullies and people with that superior heir about them, so when I hear some of the name calling I get defensive. Kind of walk a mile in their shoes type thing. On the other hand the bowed up poses after a tackle when you are losing 60-7 is a little stupid to me so I understand where we are. I don’t agree with someone quitting on his team but we never really know what’s going on in their head and they are somebody’s child so I say tread accordingly.
