Are you upset that Les Miles chose Anthony Jennings as our starting QB?

I doubt it... Porter got manhandled last night on a regular basis. Harris is extremely green, and will likely be exposed and have less success when playing against the other team's starters and base defense. Beckwith hasn't looked that much better than Welter, to be honest.

If the 4 guys on the defensive line get whipped like that, and if the offensive line doesn't play a lot better, we ain't turning this around

I think this guy is the voice of reason, although 3-5 wouldn't shock me if our line play doesn't improve..

I think that's a bit unfair.. If he's still shitty in 2 years, you can compare him to JJ.. The real indictment against JJ is that he never improved. I think AJ and BH will both improve in the next couple of years

Both will improve but BH has more natural talent that can be developed than AJ. You can teach the mechanics of passing but you can't coach somebody to have a stronger arm

Too much focus on the QB....it doesn't matter who the QB is if the OL continues to suck as it did the last 3 weeks. BTW the "senior' QB we let get away has sucked in Nashville.
As all here I see Harris with a better upside. The main reason is that he seems to have an ability to spark a team while Jennings doesn't. Comparisons to JJ are SO UNFAIR and wrong.
I know we like to focus on the QB but this is a team disaster in motion and MUCH deeper than that.

A reasoned post. Thanks for avoiding a knee jerk reaction. I agree that Harris has a great arm, and appears to have a lot of potential. But ur right that the circumstances dictated that he was playing against backups and a prevent defense without a lot of pass rush. Given Harris' lack of experience, I doubt he'd do a better job than AJ at going through progressions.. But I'm in favor of giving him more playing time and let them figure out who should start on the field... This is really a rebuilding year anyway(from what I saw last night, and to some extent against Wisconsin). Hopefully, next year some of our young linemen will have developed into players and we will have figured out who our best QB is

Heavens no. Stud's lines underperformed for five years. Grimes has inherited an underperforming line from Studrawa and needs some time to get it done. More than four games.

Future NFL hall of fame athlete but no coaching experience. He might make a very good one, but he must pay his dues coaching at the university level before coaching in the SEC. Not every performer makes a good coach and it would be unfair to Mawae and to LSU to put him in like that just because of his LSU heritage.

Honestly, Mawae was so good running the NFL Players Association that I wouldn't be surprised to see him in lucrative business somewhere. Probably make a hell of a Bowl game director, like Charlie Mac. But he has coached in high school for a year and and interned at Vanderbilt for another. If this is his path, a couple of successful years coaching O-line at a smaller college could put him in position to replace Grimes if he doesn't work out. Because you know Les is going to give Grimes a chance.

Harris does throw a beautiful tight spiral with a lot of velocity. I agree with your assessment for the most part. I just think it's unfair to compare AJ to JJ at this early point in his career.

You have an argument here, but game experience is a helluva teacher.. I'd like to continue to get Harris involved as much as possible so he can supplement the practice and QB meetings with some real experience with bullets flying.. I think this is the best approach until he can win the job, if he can win it. I think everybody is writing off Jennings a bit early. A lot of pretty decent QBs looked like Jennings at this stage of development.

Mississippi State sure seemed to know the plays we were gonna run at the goal line, didn't they?
