Are you upset that Les Miles chose Anthony Jennings as our starting QB?

Clearly, they should not be on the field if they do not know the plays. Right?

I don't think AJ will ever have the arm that BH has. If he doesn't have it by now, he's not going to have it.

And .... please .... I donb't want to watch 2 more years of "JJ-II" before the coaches finally put in the better talent .... OH WAIT ... they never did keep in the better talent. .. they played JJ out!

    Do you really want that??

You have to figure the coaches play the best that they have got, and who knows who we have on the bench that is ready. But I suspect there has never been a better time to move up on the depth chart than when the starters are not getting it done. Sometimes the best guy is not the biggest and the strongest but the guy who know who he is supposed to block and what to do when that guy shifts away a second before the snap. With offensive linemen that us usually the experienced players, not the freshmen. So if our veterans don't know the plays and the defenses well enough, they will just have to get better. It is a lot to expect a freshman to contribute on the O-line.

Just a thought....but was wondering why Miles is out there recruiting duel-threat qb's for his style of play. I mean, Mett was a highly ranked pro-style qb, but now you have two duel-threat guys trying to run a (basically) pro-style offense. You've usually always had great backs and great sets of receivers..... I don't get the logic....

Just another in the long list of head scratchers that is the hat. Funny thing is he had a pro style QB, a pretty good one and he ran him off.

Harris is going to give us a very good pocket passer eventually, ala Zach Mettenberger. The added bonus is he won't be a statue back there should the protection fall apart.

Jennings will NEVER be an efficient and effective pocket passer.

Why he didn't go with the better option is beyond me. The "Jennings has more experience" excuse is not sufficient. Jennings has proven in 4 games that he isn't any more prepared to handle the big stage than Harris.

Pure pocket passers are getting harder to find. Most High Schools play some variation of the spread or pistol so you're going yo see more RG llls than Andrew Lucks coming out of the prep ranks. But if you recruit dual purpose QBs you should at least have enough sense to tailor your offense to their skillset. Just another puzzling thing about the Mad Hatter

I hope you're right. I would like to think Grimes is gonna be a better recruiter and position coach than the last guy.

People continue to compare Jennings to Jordan Jefferson, which you have every right to do on a free speech message board. Still I think it's unfair and probably unwarranted. Plenty of quarterbacks have been successful in college if not the NFL without having a cannon for an arm. Comparing a kid who's a true sophomore starting his 6th college game to a guy who sucked for over 3 years and never got any better is grossly unfair, IMHO. I'm not even saying he's better than Harris, but to suggest it's clear cut and AJ is a bum is a major exaggeration based on what I've seen so far...

Agreed, and almost unheard of for a true frosh. Which is why it's surprising to me that Cam Robinson is starting at left tackle for Bama. Sure wish he wasn't a traitor and would've stayed home.
