Unnecessary roughness is still illegal, but there is simply a certain amount of roughness in the game. That was definitely helmet-to-helmet contact which is illegal, but it may have been inadvertent. Ref's call. I suppose.
my favorite is the guy who yells fumble after a forward pass hits a players hands and then hits the ground. you know you could yell holding though on every play and you would probably be right.
Yeah, we've got one of those in our section too. I just don't understand people getting so upset over a win.. lol
There is probably about 10,000 of that guy at every game. You just have to be lucky enough to be sitting close to him. You have about a 1 in 9 chance.
I'm the guy who yells "BAAAALLLLLL!!!!!!!!" before 98% of the crowd knows its a fumble. i do it on my sofa at home as well. my wife loves it :dis: but seriously, my recent experiences in tiger stadium (i'm a ticket nomad, no season tickets) with our own fans have been unpleasant. it seems the less one knows about football, the louder and more obnoxious they are. we should have some sort of IQ test in place to enter the stadium. i often find myself correcting the person (to my wife usually, never to his/her face, although i will talk loudly sometimes) with things like: "he was out of the pocket, it's not intentional grounding" "the defensive man has just as much right to the ball as the receiver" "the ball was way behind him, it's not the receiver's fault, it was a bad throw" and hundreds of others...
"the defender was in the neutral zone, its not a false start" "its college jack ass he only has to have 1 foot in" "you can't go for it on 4th and 14 from our own 20, are you nuts" "Trindon isn't back there because he cant field a punt" "Jarrett Lee, Russell Sheppard, and Chris Garrett are our backup quarterbacks, and no they don't need to pull Jefferson" wow, this could turn into a fun thread, keep it going.
i told you there were hundreds more. the trindon thing is true. people think he's a 20 carry a game rb and that his hands aren't almost the same size as my 10 month olds. just cuz he can do all those things on your PS3, doesn't mean he can do them in real life. (the video game thing, that's a mentality of its own)
I really think the LSU fan base in general crossed a line after the 2003 championship season. It seems like a lot of fans went from being excited about the possibility of winning to being stressed about the possibility of losing. Remember the 2003 Georgia game when they scored that 90+ yd TD late to tie the game and the fans broke out in a positive "L-S-U" chant before the kick-off? I wouldn't bet on a 2009 Tiger Stadium crowd doing that.
